Sorry the mom is singing a different tune. With the reality of turning himself in, it may not be the easy thing, but its the right thing.

Glad the SF still feels the same.

I have to say though, that while I disagree with the majority of rioters, THIS boy I might actually give a pass to.

It seems to me that most of the rioters just want destruction for its own sake, and to grab whatever loot they can get. It's criminal behavior (and mindset) and should be punished.

But the picture in that article shows this kid vandalizing a police car. He wasn't out stealing and destroying things belonging to innocent civilians - he was protesting against the police, albeit illegally. But at least I don't think the motive was criminal, you know? I hope he just gets probation.

The law is very clear in this regard. A police car is public/government property though and vandalizing public property is a criminal offence. It doesn't matter if it was a police car, a post office mail box or a stop sign. Vandalizing public property is a crime and the bare minimum a judge can do is brand you with a criminal record. At least that is how it is in NY.
