What is acceptable internet access?

We allow SD10 to use the internet here and there at home. She always has to ask and is normally not on for very long--maybe 30 mins at a time.

We have set up passwords so she can't just go on whenever she feels like it. But the computer is upstairs next to BS3s room. That is the only space for it, no room in the living room area.

I was wondering how much time your kids get on the internet, if at all. After reading Alwaysventings last post it makes me wonder if I should sit with SD while she goes online.

We have a house rule that the laptop must stay in the kitchen. DH and I are the only ones that know the password. The skids have Facebook accounts and DH is "friends" with all of them. He can monitor their sites that way. Using my SM magical powers, I have figured out SDs passwords for Facebook and MySpace, so I check it out a few times a week when I know she isn't on the computer. (DUH- it's the boyfriends name! Like that was hard to figure out. LOL)

I'm not ashamed either. If she's as secretive and sneaky as she has been the last few months; lying and running away, I need to know I can check on her when she's not being honest with anyone else.

FYI- I also check her cell phone and digital camera everynow and then. The cell phone has locks certian hours of the day so we know kids aren't on all night. On the occassions I have found inaprropriate pictures on digital camera of her in bras or making out with boyfriend, I have deleted them. She can't accuse me of it, cause then she'd have to admit she was taking those kinds of pictures. A few times, I've left them there, and told DH he needs to go to her and say it's just a "spot check." She has to hand it over, then and there...

BTW- ages are 17, 15, 14

My BDs 9 and 8 and SS8 are allowed up to an hour a day depending on behavior. That includes all computer usage time even games not on the net. They have facebook but I am their friends on all of them and they do not have the password, only I can log them in. They have email they can use unrestricted during this time however I have the password and can check it as well. The computers are down in the livingroom.

Bd5 and SS5 are allowed up to an hour a day depending on behavior as well, but they dont have access to their own email or facebook and i do all their typing for them.

SD3 is really only allowed the time i play a movie for her or a game or two at starfall.
