Girl Meets Boy. How did you and your SO meet?
With this month being the month of LOOOOVE I figured it would be fantastically interesting to hear your romantic tales of how you and SO came to be the lovely, hot, sexy, couple you are today.
Guys feel free to chime in your romantical endeavors that stole your woman's heart.
I shall go first
We met online. Hot already, right? LOL. If you guys are not aware online is very simular to real life meaning typically the men pursue the women but instead of buying you a drink you get an email or IM. At most, woman "wink" or glance a profile to show a guy that you're interested. FEEL that romance!
During another day of electronic love quests I noticed this super hot guy. Imagine a young Christopher Reeve with blonde hair--prrrr. I checked out his profile, liked it, gave him proof I was "checking him out" by leaving a trace I looked at his profile...twice! And NOTHING. Ugh so I decided to do the unthinkable and shatter my rules of an online-good-girl and email him. And....NOTHING!
A week goes by and-YES-he replies. He'd been out of town and had just gotten back the night before. We replied emails which graduated to IMs, then to phone calls for about 3 weeks until we got REAL (lol) and decided to meet in person.
We decided on a well known sushi place off the highway coast 101. Me being phobic about serial killers decided I would meet him there vs picking me up. I pulled in and parked my car next to his-he told me before hand. I text my parents the color of his vehicle and license plate number (they already been told his full name and phone number). I walked in and sat at the bar. There was nobody there but the server new where to seat me.
It was a Wednesday night in mid March when I saw this tall handsome man walking towards me. I can still smell the cologne he was wearing. I won't go into much more except that we closed the restaurant and the little tavern next door. The rest is history...
Okay. Your turn!

My story is also one of
My story is also one of online romance. I'd been divorced for three years, and decided it was time to get back in the game. I joined a singles club but that was getting me nothing but silly parties with the same men that didn't excite me, so I took the leap into the online world. I chatted with a few guys online, even had a few phone conversations, but everything got put on hold when my dad got really sick in August and I had to drop everything and go to take care of him when he got out of the hospital.
When the crisis passed, I packed up my dogs and headed home on Saturday. I got home and thought, what the heck? I'll poke around online and see what I find. That night I winked at a cute guy, and who knew?!?! He messaged back. We messaged back and forth and decided to meet on Sunday at Starbucks. I got there first, so I got to watch him walk up. He had the cutest smile, and these great, clearly-built-for-hugging-and-cuddling arms, and I thought, this might not be bad. We decided to take a walk by the marina, and we took my car because I had the convertible and the day was lovely. We stopped at a red light, and he reach over and brushed my hair out of my eyes, and right then my innards all melted and I went completely gooey inside. We walked along the marina, and then he offered to make me dinner. If there's one thing I can't resist, it's a man who can cook. And he can cook!!!! He's been cooking ever since
Oh goody another onliner
Oh goody another onliner couple. I love it!
And don't let a cooking man go! That is indeed a rare find. Mine is a HARDCORE griller but I wouldn't say he can cook. Except he makes an insane jumbalaya. It is to die for.
Can't resist that man's

I was a school teacher in a small town. I was friends with the superintendent and his wife. One night, she calls and says they hired my "future husband." She goes on to tell me the new principal is a single dad with three kids.
I told her I wasn't that insane...
12 and a half years later; I realized I was much crazier than I thought...
"I HAD to pick the road less traveled..."
LOL....I get you totally.
LOL....I get you totally. From one crazy to another.
I met mine FH in a Chat
I met mine FH in a Chat room, approx 13 yrs ago. But we were only friends for many, many, years, only chatted in room never one on one.I was invited to a get together..where I got to meet him in person yrs ago.. along with 200 others at a online get together party. I was a widow, and dating someone else.LOL.
I was the only lady he danced with that night. Then we started talking as friends(only) on the phone and messages. I remember the conversation changing, (after I broke up with another guy I had been seeing), and he said, Remember when I met you at that party?? And we danced..I said, yes, he said, I always liked you & you were the best looking woman there, he remembered what I wore too.. He said if you weren't with that other guy I would have asked you out. Then said, would you have gone out with me.? By this time we had been friends for years.
I said, sure i would have. He said, how about now ??
Anyway, we talked everyday several times, he lived 4 hours from me one way, then he invited me on a trip was wonderful !!!. So that was our first date.
Then we dated every since. He lived in FL at the time. We dated about a year. Spending 5 days a week together..His place or mine. Then moved back west due to Mom being ill & missing his kids. Business etc.
I had told him " NO strings attached" from day one..BIG MISTAKE.. I didn't know it but when he left FL he was in Love with me. And I was in Love with him too.( never told him either )
We talked a while longer a few months. Then NO contact for a few months .. then he saw me online one night & asked could he call me and called, we talked for SIXTEEN HOURS..straight non stop...LOL
DRUM ROLL >>>>>>> LOLOLOL
Then, he said.."I've been in Love with you for years" "And I want to make a life with you" I said???? What???( I almost fell off My bed) I was so shocked... How long have you known this?? He said, since I dated you in FL. YEARSSSSSSSS... DAMN !!!
He was scared I would reject him. since I wanted No strings attached LOL. I was scared too...LOL I had never planned on falling in Love again..I Think we were BOTH SHOCKED that we fell in Love & a very passionate deep Love it is....UNLIKE ANY Love I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED IN LIFE.....God sent me this Wonderful Loving Man.!!!
Anyway..thats how it started.. He is the Love of My Life..And we have BIG plans for our future LOL
He remembered what you wore
He remembered what you wore the night you first met (in person)...that should have told you you're in trouble.
All these love stories are making me all mushy. DH is wondering why I'm being so extra nice to him...lol
Lets see, my DBF was friends
Lets see, my DBF was friends with my old roomate. He had just split with the ex about a week before for the second, and final, time. She had left him once before but since the military provided her a free house, free healthcare, etc she came back. He tried to make it work, went to therapy, read books, really tried. What did she do? Go out EVERY night and left him at home alone after working outside in negative degree weather all day. Since we are both in the military, we couldn't "offically date" until his divorce was final. He was legally seperated, but not divorced (he had filed the day before we met.) We were really good friends for a few months then started quietly dating. His divorce was final in June and we went on our "first date" the day it became final. I was on night shift in the ER where i work, so I would get off about 30 min before he had to be at work. We would rendezvous in the parking lot before we went home/to work. It was sweet. We fell in love and moved in together. I didn't meet SS3 until we had been dating for about 6 months. I really feel that I met my soulmate. I know that is cheeze. We are partners and equals. Even though we aren't married, we do everything as if we were (the ex even referrs to me as SM, i think its becaues its just easier.) We share bills, insurance, rent, etc. SS3 lives with us 60-ish percent of the time. I love both of them very much.
We saw each other, nothing
We saw each other, nothing has been the same since. Nuff said.
DH saw me on a singles
DH saw me on a singles website, sent me a few messages and I ignored him.... completely. Why would I date someone 15 years my senior there were plenty of guys my age and not to far from it kicking around. I date a few more immature idiots, he sends a few more messages I ignore, but the fun part is... I can't get his picture out of my head... He's a total DILF and yet all the while I'm ignoring him, mostly anticipating he can't possibly be that cute in person. One night I get a myspace message. LOL he tracked me down, and we talk... he's really upbeat and super energetic compared to anyone I've talked to! We text/IM/Email for the next few nights, and finally he calls me one night on his way home from work stuck in traffic. "I was thinking about just turning around and eating dinner in the city, would you join me?" What the hell.... I'm bored... "sure" We go to my favorite pub (the owner is one of my best buds, it was a prescreening, plus it's always been my favorite place for a quiet drink and good tapas) He has to be the purest, most incredibly sweet guy I've ever met, and yeah, he's pretty cute!!!!! Went to the lighthouse and watched the sunset surrounded by water... haven't spent a day apart since!
We met at the train station.
We met at the train station. We both used to commute to downtown Chicago for work (I still do) and he used to say hi to me all the time and I would ignore him.
I thought he was obnoxious and conceited, and I didn't want to be bothered.
Finally, one day he plopped down next to me on the train and waited til I turned around, my his face thisclose to mine and said "Hi!"
I would sit with him everyday on the train and we would sleep on the long ride home with my head on his chest.
One day, as I was getting off on my stop, he grabbed my face and kissed me.
I was 19 and he was 26. And now I am 25 and he will be 32.

I bartended in a biker bar
I bartended in a biker bar for my second job. DH was everything I didn't want...a biker, a dad, a divorcee, a customer at the bar, and over 4 years older than me. I took one look at him and had to have him. Luckily he came into the bar with my uncles. I couldn't even serve him. I was so freaking smitten. A guy has never done that to me before, I always had the control. So the next night I went to the bar as a patron hoping he would be there with my uncles, but he wasn't. So I asked my uncle about him and he was like "seriously"?, lol. So my uncle called him and told him that they were going to come up to the bar the next night when I worked so he could meet me. They did show up and he got my number and called me that night and we hit it off. Then I didn't hear from him for a few days, my uncle called him and he didn't answer either, so I had to have him at that point. The unattainble, lol. He called a week later like it was normal and asked to hang out but I had already picked up my aunt's shift at the bar. I was so bummed, but he came up for a little bit to hang out with me. So he came back at the end of my shift (2am) to see if I wanted to hang out (which Im pretty sure he meant...get it on), I said no and he walked me to my car, we talked and he tried to kiss me and I didn't let him, smiled, told him to call me and drove away (apparently thats when I hooked him, lol). So he did call the next day and we went to a Memorial Day weekend party as our first date (although I tried to bail on our first date, lol, he wouldn't have it and kept bugging me until I went) and have been together ever since.

I met BF when I still lived
I met BF when I still lived in FL & lived w/ my sister and her boyfriend (now BIL). My sister and I used to walk around the neighborhood every day after work (before we'd sit out back & drink & smoke) and one day she told me that BIL's friend was coming to visit b/c he had just found out his wife was cheating on him, etc, etc. He grew up with my BIL and came down to get away after everything went down with Wilda & he discovered that she's a skank. I knew as soon as I saw him that there was something special about him. Ask me now and I'd say "special" We hung out for the days that he was there - I even went with him to pick out a stuffed animal for SD9 (she was probably 4 at the time). Neither of us has any game whatsoever and we could barely say 2 words to each other but I kept telling my sister that I was going to marry him once he got his head out of his ass & realized that he loved me. So probably close to a year later, my sister and BIL came up here to go to the wedding of another of their friends & BF told my sister that he was interested in me. Fast forward ANOTHER 6 months and he came down again. He was doing a job for a client up here that has a home down there - good excuse to go to FL for free! He came over from the other side & we all hung out. Then he told me he was stalking me on myspace but couldn't find me. I managed to find him & we started talking. Then, one very drunken night 3 months later (during "wedding week" for my sister and BIL) all the magic happened... a lot. And continued for the rest of the week. OOOPSIE! Talk about a skank - ME! HAHA! We kept talking on myspace and the phone for the next month until my sister and BIL were coming up here for a couple of weeks. I decided to come too & ended up staying with him. A couple of months later on another trip up here, he told me he loved me. We did the long distance thing for about 9 months total then I moved up here and have been here for 2 years (as of last week, actually).
I told him last night that if he's waiting to ask me to marry him until he can get me a ring, that the ring isn't what's important. I know that neither of us has any money right now and that us being together is what's important - not a ring. Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to have one, but I found a really cool green amber ring (LOVE amber!) and told him he could get me that for now. *sigh* I hope it happens soon.

My DH and I
My DH and I met....drumroll....ONLINE also!! I "winked" at him on Match.com....I went on one date shortly after that through Match and it was a total disaster. So, I decided to cancel my membership and just avoid that scene altogether. Well, DH tried to wink back a few days after I did, but, I didn't have an active account anymore.
Well, a year later, my sister (who met her BF online also) said I should give it a try again. Well, the day after I signed back up, DH saw my profile was active again (you are sent a weekly e-mail showing your possibly matches) and sent me a message asking if I remembered him. We exchanged e-mails that day (Thursday mid-September 2008), met on Saturday and the rest is history!!
We went to Las Vegas over New Years (that same year) just to go, not to elope. He proposed the day before we flew back and we were married in April 2009. We are both in our 30s and knew what we wanted out of life. Neither of us thought there was any reason to wait for a certain amount of time that society thought was appropriate. Both of our families were very supportive of us and our plans to get married. It makes me teary just thinking about it.
Great post! I'm excited to see how many couples are products of the online world!! We should start our own club!!

DH & I met at work. (I no longer work there but he still does) I was newly single and didnt want a relationship. Just some fun. He was freshly seperated. He talked to me all the time but I thought he was still with his ex so I wasnt interested. I was dating someone else and he pulled me aside one day and said he'd regret not ever trying and he kissed me in the a back room at work. I was instantly in love...lol! I stopped dating the other guy and gave him a chance and it was the best decision I ever made. We had a steamy love fest without co-workers knowing we were together and than the more seriously we got, we exposed ourselves to co-workers.
Another online romance - DH
Another online romance - DH & I were both about to delete our accounts with an online dating service and decided to check our messages one last time - we can't agree on who winked at whom (he winked at me!)but we decided to meet up at one of the local theaters to watch the new Superman movie. The movie was sold out so we ended up at Houlihan's for a drink. We hit it off right from the start. It was a Friday night when we answered our messages, met at the movies and to this day have never spent an entire day without the other (with the exception of me being in the hospital). Things moved pretty fast for us and the subject of marriage came up - don't remember the exact details, but we got officially engaged at the minor league ball park close to our home; the manager of the jewelry store where we bought our rings called the ball park manager and had them announce our engagement over the p.a. system - everyone at the ball park started applauding!
The funny thing is at one time we both went to the same high school, I was a year ahead of him and I moved to another city my junior year. Neither of us really remembered knowing each other, but just recently my MIL gave me DH's freshman picture and I do remember seeing him around school, lol!

Mine is taboo. Don't hate
Mine is taboo. Don't hate me. Dh and I met when I lived in Boston and he in Philadelphia. The consulting group for whom I worked was nixed from my current company and we left as a group to DH's company. We met at a conference. He was married, overweight, drank too much and was very, very depressed. So one night at this conference event, everyone was at the bar and I came trolling in and this guy I worked with was totally hounding me, acting like we were dating and dh was there talking to some people, so in an effort to get away from this dumbass trailing me, I started telling dh and about 6 other people a joke (my pussy willow joke). Dh stared right into my face the entire time. It was almost uncomfortable.
We became friends (long distance) and emailed / texted very infrequently because, well, he was married and I was happily living the high life in Boston! Anyway, we had another conference about 8 months later (during which time I moved back to PA but still 100 miles away from Philly) and one night we're sitting in the lobby of the hotel and someone said something about dh's wife and he said "she's a bitch". I didn't like that because I don't think anyone should bad mouth their spouse but I didn't say anything. So he started telling me about her, but other than that one comment he didn't say anything really bad about her. He asked me what he could do to fix it. How could he make her happy. All I said to him was "you don't make people happy, they choose to be happy". I later learned that that comment made him rethink how he'd been handling their problems. He took her to therapy with him and the therapist recommended marriage counseling. She refused saying "I am perfect, our marriage is fine, you have a problem. you fix it". His therapist told him he needed to stick up for himself. That didn't go over so well with Wingnut and she tried to stab him. He called me the next day and I plotted his escape with him and even lent him money for an attorney. After he left he asked me on a date and we haven't been apart since.
It wasn't intentional but I realize now we had an emotional affair. I don't regret it and I am not sorry for it because we went through so many mental health care professionals throughout the divorce (at Wingnut's insistence) and each of them agreed the marriage was long over before dh met me, he was just so used to doing what she said that he didn't know how to break the cycle. I gave him the strength to do it and at least one of those docs believe I may have saved his life. He is now in shape, doesn't drink anymore, and happier than ever!

I'll go... LOL DH and I
I'll go... LOL DH and I used to work for the same company, only in different offices in different towns. I knew who he was and sure thought he was cute and funny but I didn't really KNOW him or anything. So one day he was at our branch in my supervisor's office and I walked by and he called out my name.... when I walked back to the office door and said yes, did you need me for something? He said, nah, I just wanted to watch you walk by again... LOL.... So then I nosed around and found out he was newly single and we started talking on the phone... went on our first 'date' a few months after that and got married 3 months later!

Met FH on match.com We were both at the end of our 6 month trial and both had not so great experiences with the people we met on there. He sent me a nice message which showed that he actually read my profile thoroughly. We seemed to have alot in common, being both single parents, but I never actually sought out or saw myself with a man with kids (I know, seems hypocritical of me, but I didn't want the drama but here I am anyway!) We started using instant messenger then email then exchanged phone numbers all within 2 weeks. We decided to meet so we met for drinks at a nice bar and I really had my expectations low. Had resigned myself to being single and enjoying my friends, my independence etc. We met, he looked exactly like his picture and for the first time, I sat with someone who talked more than I did! It was great. We didn't want the conversation or the date to end. I wanted to email him the next to thank him for a lovely time (not out of desperation) but a friend told me to wait. So I did. He emailed on Sunday (date was Friday) and he had such great things to say about me as a woman and the date. The next date we had was the following week and he kissed me. Totally caught me off guard and surprised me, considering we'd just had sushi (lol). I think he must have fallen in love with me from the first time. There was definitely a pull for me too but I was trying to not be won over so easily as in the past. Anyway, we were exclusively dating in just a month after first contact online and it's been good ever since. We kept our relationship from the kids for 4 months or so then we all met. Almost a year into our relationship, I moved in and 6 months after that, we got engaged though we'd talked about marriage really early into the relationship. In less than two months, we'll be married!
This is a fun thread to
This is a fun thread to read!
I was dealing with a sales rep who would come into my work every four weeks, we often talked about our dating lives during her visits. She mentioned a great guy she knew & wanted to fix him up with someone. I was like don't look at me I am having way too much fun being single (I was dating ALOT), so she sets him up with someone else.
Four weeks later she comes in and tells me it was a disaster of a date, says I should just go out with him for fun.....just a date no commitment. So I agreed as long as she came with a date as well.
I knew when he walked in to her apartment, looked at me & said WOW & the way he spoke to me like I was the only person that mattered in the world....that he had me, I just didn't want to admit it to my self. We had a great date & he asked me out every Friday & Saturday night after. He knew I was dating other people, and I also couldn't see him EOW as I had my kids...so he had the commitment talk with me & I said nooooooooo, just want to date.
Well miss Cocky-pants got a taste of her own medicine when I found out he went on a date, suddenly I got all competitive and decided he was mine. Changed my number, stopped dating the others & told him I changed my mind about the commitment thing.
I moved in with him several months later, that Christmas he proposed. I cancelled our first wedding (cold feet), he took matters into his own hands & booked a wedding on a cruise ship six months later. He joked that the only way I could get out of it was to jump ship & swim the Atlantic.
Met SO at a new years party
Met SO at a new years party I went to with my dad in 07.
I wasnt intrested in him and he wasnt intrested in me.
Hes dark with dark hair and brown eyes. I like white boys.
Thought his friend was REALLY REALLY cute. Just my type too.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, you know!
Well his friend was in a long term relationship and I was dating this guy BRYAN so nothing ever happen with that. Then in about june 08 I went to that same place that the new years party was at to hang out with LISA. Well SO was there with his friends. Turns out, he had dated my step-cousin awhile back. Well we did what young people do and got competetly and totally wasted. I pretty much ignored him all night, because he had dated my step cosuin. But he wouldnt leave me alone, kept coming over and sitting next to me, and trying to give me a massage and yada yada yada. Finally when I wouldnt give it up, he called his chick EMERALD over, but when she got there he still was sitting right next to me and flirting with me in front of his "BUDDY". I got up and went to bed.
About 7 months later lisa asked me to come over and the two of us got really drunk and she told me that a bunch of people had come over a couple nights before, and SO had been there... I told her how gorgeous I thought he was and then a couple days later got a text from him... And the rest is history....
