OT: Am I the only adult tomboy on here?
I'm getting a laugh out of all the Valentine's Day gift descriptions and I think my husband got off the hook easily with me because I don't care two owls hoots about Valentine's Day! I looooooved Valentine's Day when I was a kid because it meant lots of little paper valentines in my brown paper bag at school and hopefully lots of chocolate.
I dread Valentine's Day as an adult because I don't want to make the effort (am I secretly a guy, or what?). I didn't plan anything much this year because I am lazy. I panicked for about four seconds on the morning of Valentine's, but then fell back asleep. When I got up around noon, my darling husband was pottering around working on one of his inventions (little projects that he makes up and spends days on), but dropped everything to run over and kiss and hug me. Knowing that I resemble a hungry springtime bear if woken up early on a holiday, he had let me sleep in and patiently waited until I got up. We are very, very low key people and we are currently super broke (thank you BM and your effing CS check) so I expected a day of snuggling and hanging out and good old fashioned S E X (In anticipation of the big day, I shaved my legs. How lucky is my husband?) I stumbled to the fridge in search of caffeine, remembering as I got there that we are too poor for coffee until the next paycheck etc... I opened the fridge and should have suspected something because H was standing by the fridge grinning. First thing I saw was a big container of organic cream (I can't stand anything else and rarely get it because it's expensive) and a bag of freshly blended, organic, gourmet coffee. He had a pot brewing already complete with my favorite unbleached cane sugar. Once I let him go from my huge hug, I noticed he also got my favorite soda pop and had it chilled for later in the day and he told me to look in the freezer where I found a bar of my all time favorite chocolate (milk with toffee-organic and delicious!!!). He settled me on the couch with a cup of coffee and my chocolate and popped in the first season of a girly tv show that I've been begging him to watch with me and we cuddled, ate chocolate and watched my show all day and it was better than perfect. Nothing was extravagant or traditional, but I was so touched that he provided all my favorite little creature comforts and enthusiastically hung out with me all day.
Luckily, the books I ordered for him arrived on time and I was able to present my own little untraditional V day gift for him-complete with HIS favorite kind of chocolate (rushed in secretly by one of my amazing sisters).
It was the best Valentine's Day ever. And had a very happy ending.

I don't know why, but I've never been a big Valentine's Day fan either. Luckily, DH doesn't care for it much either so neither of us get into trouble with each other!

Sounds like a nice V-day! And you're not alone, I don't really care about V-Day. To me, it's just Hallmark, the florists, jewelers and restaurants pedaling their goods. Whatever... My FH lucked out with me too because I expect nothing, no flowers, cards, etc. If I get them, great, if not, oh well, who cares I don't need one day to feel loved or to love him.

Please! I sat around on Valentine's Day, drank beer & watched Nascar. I think at one point I even adjusted myself
DH sounds so sweet! It's those little things that mean so much, isn't it?
