OT: Just something I just learned & found amusing

So, for going on 9 years now, BM has been telling everyone how I'm such a witch. Well, my dad has spent a lot of time going through our family history, & it turns out, I get it honest. I'm related to a Mary Bliss Parsons, who was accused of being a witch in the Salem witch trials back in the 1600's. She was, however, aquitted. I hope one day I am too. Heeheehee!

I thought it was pretty cool too. I've been reading about her online...during the lulls on here. I've kind of half-assed attempted to find some info on DH's history. His mom is 1/2 Indian & 1/2 Italian. Her side has been really hard to find much of anything on, as we know pretty much nothing about her birth mother & her father's history comes from Indians. There aren't a lot of records on them. It's fun to get what I can, though.

there is a pretty cool website called www.findagrave.com. If you can get basic info you can put a memorial page up and if you know the cemetary request a volunteer to take photos of the grave or marker. They might already be on there, you can search by name/state. I've done some volunteer photos here in my hometown after finding both my grandparents headstones on there. They have forums where the people are AMAZING at finding out geneology and history. Just thought I'd pass along the info! Smile

did you find it!?!? looks like a lot of her relatives..therfore your relatives are on the same one!! I bet you could request a clearer picture, it's a tad blurry, but that's so kewl!!!

I did! That is incredible! I may plan a trip up that way to see it. Her house is owned by the Historical Society, so I could go see it as well. Thank you so much for that information!!!

I also read that she is 7th great-grandmother to John Wayne. I don't know for sure what she is to me yet. I need to check back with my dad to find out where she fits on our line.

Yeah! Sure...a witch probably isn't the most glamourous, I'll take what I can get. Smile At least I can rest well knowing it came through blood. Doesn't that mean I don't have to accept responsibility for my ways???

wonder what a cowgirl/witch would sound and look like..ha ha..pointy hat and horse..or cowgirl hat and broom..hmmm...

that really is so neat. and the fact that you can go to the house too. That's really something to pass down through the generations.

Although, I think I would like to make them better people instead of frogs..... then again, frog legs are tasty I hear.....

BM...in a heartbeat. Skids worship BM & want nothing to do with me or DH, but I really think if I showed them how to do it, they'd think I was pretty freaking awesome!!! BM...toad...BM...toad! LMAO!!! And in between all of us changing her back & forth we'd hear faint little yelps of "quit...it! But we'd barely hear it over our roars of laughter & celebration. Biggrin

My mom was born in salem, Mass. .. I always thought it was mildly ironic.
