Tattoos of DSDs names
So you all might think I'm crazy, but I have gotten both of my DSDs names tattooed on me! I think they are beautiful and it meant a lot to the girls that I did it. Some of you might think I overstepped and that is something only their bio parents should do... but I am really glad that I did it and it means so much to me to have them!
Is there seriously anyone on here who absolutely LOVES their skids? I love mine like my own flesh and blood... even on the bad days. This site has helped me realize just how good I have it!

Google "kids names tattoo" - it is a very common practice, although probably less so for skids' names.

OMG, I almost woke up my sleeping 2-year-old from my laughter at this comment. Hillarious...and, same goes for me!

That's awesome! I adore my stepmother. She's been in my life for 25+ years.(I'm 37) She is wonderful and the best thing that ever happened to my father. I know she loves us as well...not like her biokids, but she loves us a lot..and we always felt that. I would love to follow her lead in the stepmother department and had high hopes about having a relationship with my 13ss. However, I'm not sure it's possible...we'll see...I plan on trying my hardest!!
Good for you!
Nope not crazy or over
Nope not crazy or over stepping. I'm planning to have my SS's name tattooed on me. I love him to pieces. He's the sweetest little boy it drives me nuts that he has such a sucky mom.
Mine are 5 and 6 years old.
Mine are 5 and 6 years old. Think that can't happen with biokids too? It's all about how you look at it. I married my DH and I KNEW HE HAD 2 DAUGHTERS. How unfair of me would it be to treat them like the scum of the earth when they're older just because they're brats, or look like their BM?
My situation is one where the BM is a few states away and rarely has contact with the kids (at our discretion), they don't want much to do with her anyway and really only care about their half siblings.
I plan on getting my biokids' names too, but made the commitment early on that I would treat my skids the same way. In fact, IRL I don't even refer to them as my "step-kids" they're just my kids and that's that.
I didn't say YOU were
I didn't say YOU were treating your skids like the scum of the earth, but it seems like a lot of people on here at least view them that way, whether they treat them that way or not.
I know they might kick me to the curb when they're older in spite of everything I have done for them. I know not everyone would want a tattoo period, let alone their skids names. Regardless, right now it means a lot to me and a lot to them and to me and to my DH, and I don't mind having that reminder.

My tattoo artist has his kids' names on him.
To each their own I suppose,
To each their own I suppose, I personally wouldn't tattoo anyones name on me, but SO on the other hand has tattoo's with both his kids names plus he wants to have our son's done plus my 4 year old son's done, he's not his bio dad but he is his dad if that makes sense, bio dad has nothing to do with him. He said he wanted to tat my name on himself as well. I asked him not to. It's a nice gesture though and it's flattering!

I have a picture of 3 flowers tattooed on me - symbolic of the 3 kids that resulted in my marriage to DH: one skid and 2 bios.
