O/T I need a hobby

LPS's picture

I find that all I do is eat, and not anything good. Cookies, chips, cookies again, and it just makes me feel sick. I have no self control! This morning I actually thought to myself after I dropped DD off at school, what can I go home and eat, then I yelled at myself in my head, went home and had a cookie. Sad

Last year, I was diagnosed with Diabetes II. I was so heavy and decided I was going to have gastric bypass. So, I did. In 5 days it'll be a year since my surgery. I left the hospital diabetes free, I am on zero medication and I have lost 100 pounds. I went from wearing a size 22/24 to a size 8. I don't want to go back to where I was. I feel like I am turning into a closet eater and I don't like it.

Monday, I have a job interview, fingers crossed I will get it, then at least I will be outta this house. I need encouragement. I need a life!

Rant over.

Try yoga! It's very relaxing and destresses any bad mood or rough day. Plus it's good for your body and health Smile

Oh, that's hard. I know. I too I'm trying to get motivated to move. It's really hard once you fall into a rut to get back to doing things. I think if you sing up for something you actually have to PAY for, then it encourages you to go and do something vs. if you try to do it at home, etc...you know? That's what I had to do. I signed up for Yoga and won't miss it because I paid for it in advance. Otherwise, I have a pool, tennis courts, walking trail, etc...where I live and I won't get off my behind to do anything...

Good luck! I know it's hard, but you can do it!

LPS,

This may or may not work for you. Its what I have always done. I am a soda freak - if I have soda in the house, I consume it at an alarming rate. Sometimes I would buy a dozen and get the last one thinking holy crap, I just bought this yesterday where did it all go?!?!?!

I can't control drinking the soda, but what I can control is buying the soda. That seems easy for me, I don't have any problem NOT buying it. If I don't buy it, its not in the house to drink so my problem is solved. Sometimes I go to the soda cabinet and stand there - but there is no soda so ....

Try not buying it if you are able to - you can't eat whats not there.

Can you not buy the stuff that causes problems? Like I refuse to go down the candy aisle at the grocery store and I would NEVER buy ho hos or snack cakes or anything like that. Don't get me wrong, I'll treat myself once in a while, but if I keep it out of my house, then I don't have to worry about the temptation. Thankfully my DH is not into sweets and I try to keep BS2 away from junk, so it's easy to just not buy the crap.

Oh and I always have honey around and if I am really craving something sweet I just have a spoonful of honey, or a whole wheat bagel with honey on it or something of that nature. Honey is sooo good for you and much better than eating a cookie. Smile
