FIL pawning DH’s property
... with DH’s permission, of course. A couple of high-end acoustic Martin guitars, to be exact.
I guess it wouldn’t bother me too much if this wasn’t the same person that enables DH’s high conflict ex, the BM, by paying for plane tickets for visits that are against the court ordered visitation.
Or the same person that’s addicted to the puppy phase of dog ownership, and has 6 dogs to prove it.
Seriously, I wish I were joking when I say this, but it would not surprise me in the least if I catch wind that they PURCHASED another dog at the tune of $1200-$1500. It’s the in-laws MO when things aren’t going swimmingly within the family - to fly out to skid’s state (2000+ mi away) for an overnight visit, or to buy a another pet to get unconditional love from.

Do you think FIL will give
Do you think FIL will give some of that money to BM and lie to your DH about how much he got?
I’m almost positive he wouldn
I’m almost positive he wouldn’t, but... I could see it going towards travel costs for them (FIL and MIL) to fly to the west coast to see skid. They have most definitely done these not-so-little trips before, just to stay for 24 or 48 hours, attached to skid’s hip.
All the eye rolls.
Or, like I stated, if I catch wind of them getting a puppy, oooooooh boy.
I’m not sure if he’d lie about the amount. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did - at all.
Gaaaaaah. So FIL is pawning
Gaaaaaah. So FIL is pawning them... does your DH expect anything in return? Or are these considered "gifts" to FIL?? You can't really say anything about what someone does with a gift... ;(
I should clarify that FIL is
I should clarify that FIL is borrowing money at a pawn shop. Forgive me, I refer to this as “pawning” goods, when you borrow money on goods. I mean, there’s the possibility he’d never make good on that loan, correct?
For whatever reason, it really bothers me that he’s doing this, and that DH is okay with it. Knowing how they are with money, it’s bothersome that we’re enabling this behavior, in a roundabout way.
Ugh.
Ugh.
