My genius SD

A couple wtf moments from SD9 over the last week. 

She told me her dog pooped on the deck. I told her to grab a paper towel and just throw it off the deck for now (DH was going to be cleaning all of it up from the yard there shortly anyway). She goes and grabs a paper towel and drops just the paper towel over the side of the deck.

I gave her a pillowcase out of the dryer and told her to go put it on a pillow. She looks all confused and says "so I just like roll it up and set it on top of the pillow? 

I mean shes only 9 but really? This is one of the things I've always found odd about her and BM - they alternate back and forth between seeming fairly intelligent to seeming like they have no clue whats going on at all.

Possibly, I dont think so though, she has done that with other things but she looked legitimately confused.

Hard to say though since she's a fairly good liar though.

Learned helplessness IMO. It lowers people's expectations of her and absolves her of personal responsibility.

There was a Calvin & Hobbes where Calvin said, "I find if I lower everyone's expectations for me, life is much easier."  We used to say it applied really well to my SS20 when he was young. And maybe now? My expectations for him are rock bottom, and his life couldn't be easier.
