sometimes I feel like the only sane person swimming in a sea of insanity
So I've been sick as hell since Sunday. The absolute worst I've ever felt in my life - headache like I've never felt, chills, fever, sore throat, cough, stuffy nose, diarrhea, muscle aches. I went to the doctor yesterday, got tested, and yep - it's influenza A.
Our state is in the midst of an epidemic right now. Three kids have died from it, two of whom had been vaccinated. Since DH was starting to feel symptomatic as well, the doc sent in scripts for both of us for tamiflu (to the tune of $250 after insurance, thankyouverymuch).
At our doctor's suggestion, DH asked BM to keep skid2 last night to keep him safe (he was vaccinated, but obviously that's not 100% protection, especially this year). He had just come home from her house Sunday, and we've been avoiding the poor kid as much as possible. She refused, because it was snowing, and said she'd get him tonight for her regular overnight. Great, hope he's not already infected! We've taken every precaution and are Lysoling everything but this shit is virulent. He's a trooper though, and is making a game out of it. I hope he doesn't get sick.
Last night was terrible. DH's symptoms were worsening, neither one of us could sleep at all because we were so uncomfortable. But what did he do this morning? THAT IDIOT WENT TO WORK.
He is incapable of taking time off of work. I love that he's hardworking, but he takes it too far. Last year he had a serious knee surgery on a Friday, and was back to work in a full hip-to-ankle leg immobilizer and crutches on Monday. Keep in mind, he is plant manager of a facility that spans over two acres and is on his feet all day. He thinks he's superman. But he powered through eight weeks of that nonsense like a champ.
This, however, is different. His knee injury was not highly contagious and potentially deadly. I lit into him for being irresponsible - he's in contact with hundreds of employees daily. He's putting them and their families at risk by being there. People have babies and elderly family members, FFS!
I don't want to hear a word of complaint about how bad he feels. He should've kept his ass home to recover. It's going to be great for business when half of his employees end up sick!
Idiots.

On behalf of all of your DH's
On behalf of all of your DH's fellow employees, I would like to kick your DH in the nuts and then punch him in the throat. This is how the shit gets spread all over creation. If you're sick, stay the fuck home. Nobody else wants to be infected with your nasty ass crud! Why in the world do people do this????
I mean really, those children that died in your state, could have contracted the flu, from a parent who contracted it from a thoughtless, no brained co worker. (yes I know there are many other scenarios, but STILL!)
I want to kick him in the
I want to kick him in the balls and throat punch him too! Sometimes he refuses to listen to logic and reasoning, and SCIENCE! This shit becomes epidemic because people act like fools and expose others. He doesn't want to deal with his boss giving him attitude for not being there but really?!? I wish he would use that giant brain of his sometimes.
I don't get him sometimes.
I don't get him sometimes. He's SUPER worried about skid getting it, and is taking every precaution at home, but what about the kids of his coworkers? I for one will not be returning to work until I am symptom free. I work with people who have babies at home. If I run through all my sick days for the year already, so be it. Because I am a REASONABLE human being!
MarieJeanne, how long did it
MarieJeanne, how long did it take? My doctor told me I'd feel like shit (his exact words lol) for the better part of a week, at least. I'm hoping he's wrong. This shit sucks.
