Curious, question about Health Insurance for alienated Stepkids....
Curious if anyone else is covering their stepkids health insurance and don't even see the kid.
I know it doesn't cost any more to have SD18 on DH's insurance, but it infuriates me that he covers a kid that won't speak to him. BM created this mess, she should have to cover her. Then at least the statements wouldn't come here. BM does pay the co-pays. I think DH should cut her off. You can't contact your dad in five months, figure out your own healthcare.

It is optional to pay for
It is optional to pay for them until 26. CO says he will cover the kids. BM is a pharmacist but her insurance is not as good as DH's and more expensive. The CO says nothing about age. We have no CS or anything about them after 18. He could stop. He just won't.
My insurance covers ip to age
My insurance covers ip to age 26 like every one elses CO is not specific about how long DH has to cover them. I carry everyone on my insurance since DH job does not offer it. My policy is a family plan so it doesnt matter if you have one kid or ten cost is the same. . Even if they never came around and were over 18 i think i would leave them on the policy. BM likes to take kids to ER instead of urgent care or md office because the kids are taught to do that i think they would be overwhelmed with medical bills. Even tho 18 makes them an adult uou have to take in to consideration the common sense and intelligence of the kid in question
I still have SSociopath ony
I still have SSociopath ony health insurance, but only because FH is still legally responsible to cover 50% of medical expenses. Fortunately, BM isn't one of those who brings him to the doctor every time he gets a hangnail. But with our luck, we'd take him off the insurance and something would happen. It doesn't cost us anything extra to keep him on, so whatever.
We did not cover SD because,
We did not cover SD because, while filling out the paperwork, it asked for SD's address and we didn't even KNOW it! I'm sure this was preferable to her anyway since Medicaid doesn't make you pay co-payments.
