Quick, I need responses for a talk tonight about DH and BMs mods to the CO.
This is exactly one of those times I'll be damned if I do and damned if I don't.
DH wants to review the draft stipulation with me. We all know he really doesn't want my opinion. I've also posted how much I suck at the bubbleheaded responses like "you know best" and "wow, that's an interesting way to do it" without still sounding fake or ultimately snarky.
What nothing phrases can I say that won't sound insincere, can be said with a straight face, and keep from going down a rat hole?
Addendum: and won't make me vomit.

Oh, what is in the
Oh, what is in the stipulation? A rehash of various big and incredibly picky and inane issues between he and BM. (As you can tell my opinion is that all of it is ridiculous. What's in place and the proposed changes.)
I do that. Doesn't help. He
I do that. Doesn't help. He wants my opinion, don't give it, he wears me down (badgers me until I'm pissed), I give it, he gets upset or feels the need to justify. Maybe I'll poke myself in the foot and send the night at urgent care. Hm.
It's your decision. Okay,
It's your decision.
Okay, dear.
If that's what works for you...
Could you hand me the vodka, please?
"I can offer my opinion but
"I can offer my opinion but here are the rules. You cannot comment on my comments off the bat. You have to think about it for 6 hrs and then you can comment. By the way, I charge $30 for my thoughts so make it snappy. And I am not kidding."
If he is paying for your opinion he may not be so dismissive. And the first time he says "But you don't understand..." or some other crap you can tell him "OK, you owe me $xx.xx for my time and we are done. Good night!"
This gives me an idea, maybe
This gives me an idea, maybe rather than reviewing the content you could review the way in which it is worded, the grammar, the spelling, how things are phrased?
DH asked me as he was heading
DH asked me as he was heading out so I'm not sure if he didn't think it was a big deal, he knew he didn't want my views, or he wanted to avoid my views. My guess is the latter.
DH: did you have time to read the draft?
Red: yes
DH: what do you think?
Red privately to herself: RUN!
Red out loud: it doesn't seem to be quite the same as what you told me right after the meeting
(BM and DH and their lawyers and a GAL met)
DH: I think it's better like about not having to do X.
Red:
Kept my mouth shut.
DH left
Either DH wasn't paying attention (possible) or the lawyer misinterpreted a comment/discussion (possible but not likely) and I'm hoping he's really read through the thing and not just the black and white of it but the implications. There's inane stuff in it that I just hope he remembers how and why he agreed to it.
But I'm outta the woods so far. The glass of red was casual and for regular relaxing and didn't have to soothe my soul. Yay
