Out of the mouth of SS13
When dealing with bedtime, he says "You guys are so strict."
My exact response. "Yup. Suck it up buttercup."
That boy has things easy, and wouldn't know the definition of strict if he fell out of the strict tree and hit every branch on the way down. One chore a day plus little things as asked, homework before playing on the computer when he gets home from school, and an 11:30 bedtime. I wish I had it that good when I was his age.
I mean, if he really wants strict, I was military, I can be strict. }:)

11:30?? I would have given
11:30?? I would have given anything for that when I was his age! Mine was 9pm on school nights, 10 on the weekend... :O
Right?! BM let him stay up
Right?! BM let him stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning. We nipped that in the bud real quick. He likes to argue with us about it, so we've decided that as long as he's getting up with no problem for school, he can go to bed at 11:30. Though if we start receiving word that he's falling asleep in class, then his bedtime gets backed up.
We're such horrible people, looking out for his welfare and whatnot.
The SDs in our house also
The SDs in our house also tend to determine their own bedtime and wake time.
DP just "wants them to get their sleep." WTF? Then determine an earlier bed time than 10:00 pm, esp. for SD9 and get them out of bed earlier than 10:00 - 11:00 am.
It's like he's actually scared of waking them up and getting them upset.
There's no such thing as "strict" in our household.
More like do what you want...
Oh he's up at 6:30, out the
Oh he's up at 6:30, out the door by 6:55. And all I have to do is flick the light on over his bed and he's waking up. Which is soooooooooooo much nicer than it was when he first moved here over the summer. Going to sleep at 3 or 4 in the morning and DH would literally have to drag him out of bed around 2 in the afternoon.
Honestly, I think he doesn't really minds the structure and us being 'so strict', no matter how much he complains about it. BM never gave two shits about what he did. I just found it hilarious what he said, because I know strict, and we damn sure aren't.
Your SS has it great! I'm not
Your SS has it great! I'm not strict at all and DS has to be in bed by 10 on a school night (SD gets to do whatever the hell she likes and I've given up on trying to treat them equally).
I go to bed a little after
I go to bed a little after 10:30 when DH leaves for work. I honestly can't control what time SS goes to bed, because I'm not gonna hover over him until he falls asleep. Screw that, I'm tired. As long as he gets up in time for school in the morning, I really don't care anymore.
Yep he doesn't know the
Yep he doesn't know the meaning of the word strict, but would be great to respond "that's because we CARE about you!"
The skids reported us to
The skids reported us to the(CPS worker) Girhippo because Chef put Dominatrix in time out after kicking her younger brother, Prince Hygiene, in the mouth.
At the time skids were 10, 8 and 5. They were allowed to watch pro wrestling at the Girhippos and continued to do so at our house despite my warning to Chef.
The following Monday, the Girhippo launched a child abuse report against us saying we "split Dominatrix' lip" (it was chapped from nail biting), that we had "age inappropriate work duties" for them (we had them pick up small twigs for 20 minutes in the yard with us and then empty a small waste paper basket).
Like it was some sort of Dickensian work house.
Later they admitted "lying to the worker lady to make Mommy happy" and that "Mommy made you (Chef and myself) look like monsters" a direct quote from Pumpkinhead (OSS)
The Gir used her weight as a CPS worker to run the report up the bureaucratic flag pole and get Chef listed on the NYS Child Abuse and Maltreatment registry. Somehow the clerk "forgot" to send us the report so that we could dispute it. I caught this in time just before the greivance period was about to expire. Took me a little over six months to get it reversed to "unfounded."
The Gir was very unhappy that it was reversed and really ramped up the PAS effort so much so that a year later the oldest two were PASed out and two years after that YSS PASed out for good.
What the ever-loving bs is
What the ever-loving bs is that? :jawdrop: Your BM and skids sound like poop icing on a crap cake. I feel for you. I barely talk to BM unless it's absolutely necessary. I am not looking forward to the day DH sends her custody papers (here shortly). That's going to be a frikken nightmare. At least she is 700 miles away in another state.
Oh we grounded him from his
Oh we grounded him from his computer, phone, and both the xbox and ps3 for an entire weekend once. He whined and complained so much I wanted to gag him, bitching about how he lay in bed until 5 am just doing nothing because he didn't have his music to be able to fall asleep to. Never called us abusive though. I think his father would have put soap in his mouth if he had.
