SO birthday dinner
Tomorrow evening SO is having a birthday dinnerl at his local pub. His parents and 4skids. The 2 older skids and i dont get on.
I have been invited and im dreading it.
Im focusing on talking only to the nice members of family but am pretty sure it will be an uncomfortable evening
Any tips of getting through this??

I have been in this situation more than once. I try to get there early and have my son and husband sit on each side of me.

Talk to those you like, smile a lot, and occasionally look in the general direction of the older steps, without looking right at them. This will give the impression that you are not snubbing them. And it is true, that smiling relieves a lot of tension, even when it's fake.

I would go. Talk nicely, display excellent manners and show those ill bred children up for what they are. Let people draw their own conclusions. Eventually people will see how nasty they really are.

the last thing i want to do is spend an evenig in the elder skids company but SO wants me there and thats why I will go.
I just imagine it to be an uncomfortable evening as they will clamber over all conversation to ensure they have SO attention.
