O/T: This heat and humidity has me craving....

momjeans's picture

A tomato sandwich on lightly toasted bread with heirloom tomatoes, red onion, spring mix greens, mayo and salt and pepper.

A Bloody Mary too (thanks Aniki 8). I always order mine with extra vodka. If I'm at a place that serves it with the works (bacon, pickled carrots, peppers, etc...), that's a plus! This is basically "my drink". At Thanksgiving and Christmas I like to make them with homaemade veggie juice. Bobby Flay's recipe.

What's your favorite sandwich?
Drink?

Oh goodness!

I noticed it was 114 yesterday, in the city I used to live in in Oregon. I do not miss those temps.

Aniki's Sammich

Sliced turkey breast (REAL turkey, not that wadded together lunchmeat caca)
Sliced Swiss cheese
Sliced avocado
Alfalfa sprouts

All between 2 slices of Pepperidge Farm Very Think White Bread that have roasted garlic hummus heavily spread on both slices.

Pair with a lovely glass of pinot grigio.

Mmmm. I must make this. Avocados and sprouts are the best on sandwiches.

What's your favorite pinot grigio?

Sandwich:
BLT with a big slice of tomato and not too much bacon and not greasy. A BLT should never be greasy.

Drink:
A G&T made with the gin from our local distillery and a good, upper grade tonic (Fever Tree tonic!) - or a V&T from same distillery. With lemon, not lime.

BLT sandwiches are a favorite!

That gin & tonic sounds delicious and refreshing.

Megarita...not a typo. On the rocks with salt.

Blt is good. Enjoy steamed blue crabs with seasoning too

Mmmmm. Crab.I have yet to find a local place for a quality crab sandwich. It was one of the perks when we lived between Santa Barbara and Santa Monica.

We are blessed where we live on the east coast. My husband's family lives on the Chesapeake Bay and it's less than a 2 hour drive to get there.. plus we have our own house to stay in there. My DH was a commercial waterman for many years so a lot of his friends are still in the business. In fact, we have a small mom and pop seafood guy right across the street and they steam the crabs for you.. so it's pretty convenient!

LF, have you ever had a fish reuben? I certainly enjoy a good reuben, but the one with fish... OMG!!

Aniki-Moderator's picture

The fish was fried and use all of the regular reuben ingredients. The fish is the only difference.

I've had a grouper reuben and just saw a sign for a lobster reuben in the FL keys.

TBH, I am a bit of a purist when it comes to fish. I don't like it mucked about with too much. Though I am on board with fish tacos as long as it's not made with some farm raised crap fish. Oh, and sushi...!
