OSS...a teenager
OSS is hungry all the time which I know is normal for teenagers...however, when you are just reaching in people's food bags without asking and opening up people's food and don't ask then that's a problem. Why am I surprised though BM doesn't know what a boundary is so why would the skids? It is DH's fault as well....

you mean like you get fast
you mean like you get fast food and he reaches in your food?
We've SO MANY conversations
We've SO MANY conversations with SS15 about this! I understand you're hungry but eating an entire pack of salami lunch meat because it's easier than making a sandwich is NOT acceptable! Or eating 6 ice cream cones in 2 days or eating an entire box of crackers in less than 24 hours.
It's a never ending battle to let him know he can eat if he's truly hungry but can't eat all the junk food or all of the whatever we bought because it's for all 3 of us.
I've said it many times but...I do NOT like teenagers!
....and that's why the
....and that's why the kitchen is MY kingdom.
You want a snack... you ask. The answer will rarely be no... but you WILL be told WHAT you can have. Usually there's fruit, veggie sticks, yogurt, applesauce... there's never a lack of food. You DO NOT just go take 3 granola bars and a box of cookies.
I budget, check the pantry, do the meal plan, do the grocery shopping, and cook... so if I go to use a pack of something meant for dinner and you've snuck it into your belly, you bet you're getting booted off with some cash to the store... enjoy the 45 minute round trip.
We do the ask thing too... If
We do the ask thing too... If you open something without asking I'm not above taking it away, lol.
However I BURN through food... (4500 calories a day on average.. lol) So I also understand being SUPER starving.
As a teenager he is old
As a teenager he is old enough to understand what is acceptable behaviour. I can understand if he has never been told - so you may need to tell him or help him. Set the ground rules. Repeatedly doing the wrong things is willful defiance IMO.
Many people don't have basic manners or basic table manners because they have never been taught this. (I am talking about the basics: no baseball cap at the table, chew with your mouth closed, swallow and then talk. It is not the finer points of placing a knife with the blade edge facing the plate or removing the service plate/ charger before the dinner plate is set down. I am not talking about that. I am talking about not kicking other people's chairs or sticking to the food in your own plate.)
Your SS needs to be careful he doesn't get is hand slapped for his rude impertinence. I would slap it!
funny my son always asked, he
funny my son always asked, he never just take what he wanted, he knew, pantry you ask, kitchen you take..
then came Aergia, she gave a flying duck and would take what ever she wanted, I stopped buying things for the house, and started locking the pantry lol
Mil and BM2 let
Mil and BM2 let rummaging/snatching-ss6(then 4) looked greedily at my purse everytime and then would go in it when i wasn't loking. Many times he would snatch things he wanted out of any hand without consequence when with mil/bm alone
Everytime he would rummage/snarch at my housd he would get disciplined by DH or me.
Fast forward:
We are at the park.ss6 sees a toy he wants but doesn't see us. Snatch!!!(he still does it when we dont look-lol xgildren are sneaky!)
The child whose toy it is is holding an end also.
I get up and yell:Ss6 come here!
He looks up drops the toy and cones to me(parents in the park are stunned)
My two teenage SD's are
My two teenage SD's are overweight and they like to eat.. A LOT. I had to start telling them not to eat everything all at once as we couldn't keep enough snacks in the house. One morning, the older one wanted to make breakfast - she made French toast, eggs, bacon. Well, the loaf of French toast was very large and slices were thick. I figured she'd make 1 or 2 pieces per person. Nope - she made the whole thing. And then her and her sister proceeded to wolf down most of it. SO stopped them at piece #4. It makes me sick to watch them eat.
my kids eat like horses too,
my kids eat like horses too, but none of them are overweight.
Ordered pizza this weekend because I wasn't going to be home early enough to have dinner on the table at a reasonable time... It arrived before DH and I got home with ss....
2 x-large and a medium... between 3 kids, they ate all but 2 slices. Their excuse? They thought it was all for them, as opposed to being for all of us as well.
DH and I went out to get McD's for ourselves and ss... and my kids had the nerve to be half-insulted because we didn't bring THEM any.
Um... ya'll just ate over 24 pieces of pizza between 3 of you..... NO WAY!
I usually stop them at the 3rd slice... they have to wait a while for another.
So it is just kids being kids
So it is just kids being kids I guess?
Sometimes, sure. They all pig
Sometimes, sure. They all pig out on yummy stuff if left to it.
Guaranteed if I was around when the pizza arrived, they wouldn't have pigged out that way...mostly because I would have put a stop to it.
My skids want a snack every
My skids want a snack every hour.
Ss12 asks and I usually tell him what to have.ss6 is nonverbal but starting to talk so he was bad with snatching/rummaging(never disciplined at all until I came along). Also BM2 only feeds him what he likes(bread and candy bc he is ASD).
He stunned me last week by actually asking for food:may i have breakfast pleaae. And pulled me to the bacon in the kitchen
I am the only one who can make SS6 try other foods(bbq pork, cheese, chicken, peppers, potatos)bc he knows he has eating rules at my house and consequences if he disobeys or tantrums (these deserve a post in themselves).
I remember the first time ss12 tried tto only eat what he wanted off the plate(surprise-the steak). He got up to fo for seconds of steak while leaving all else on plate. I like it but not foing to eat it. He was proptly told by hubs to eat off his plate until not hungry anymore.
My two step children eat all
My two step children eat all the time. The eldest is the worst because she has no manners. It is disgusting.
They want to eat snacks and crap. They get very angry when fiance does not have junk food in the house.
I love to cook. The eldest SD hates my food. I was amazed when she said, "You can not eat green food!" She refuses to eat vegetables or fruit. She is 14 and 50 pounds over weight!
Sounds exactly like OSS over
Sounds exactly like OSS over here. Always wanting to eat junk food or processed. BM doesn't cook so she just buys them junk food and fast food so they think they get it at our house as well.
