If dreams came true and I won the lottery
Forums:
If I won the lottery, I would like to think I would be responsible with my money and firstly pay off my debts. Next step would be to plan for the future and put enough money away for my kids to go to college. I would then use the money to take care of my family overall and move us into a slightly more spacious house, closer to work and in a better neighborhood. I gotta treat myself too! indulge in my little hobby of motorbikes.
With whatever is left I wouldn’t want to blow it away, so I’d do some research online and go to a financial adviser to make the most of it and hope it will grow.
Well, it would be a nice dream…
What would you buy with lottery money?
Set aside enough to pay off
Set aside enough to pay off my kids' college tuitions. Pay off my debts, as well as my parents'. Refurbish my home in prep for selling it. Go overseas for an extended time to places I want to revisit, and places I'd like to see for the first time. Definitely speak with a financial adviser both for investment and the best ways to donate a chunk to charitable organizations.
And make sure have enough from the sale of this home, plus some from the lottery proceeds, to purchase a place where I could set up an animal rescue.
And likely quit my job.

I'd buy a huge old mansion in the UK.

This is always a fun game to play. I would pay off all of my debt first (thank God I don't have too much), and then I would allow myself one giant fun splurge, like to travel around the world for maybe 9 months or a year. After that I'd probably buy, like, a slightly nicer home on a nice parcel of land in the mountains here in Colorado, but nothing huge, then maybe just buy another tiny little two or three bedroom place on the South Coast of Maine as just an ocean getaway. Then I would probably invest the rest, grow it a little bit, and go back to working after maybe a few years off, doing something I actually love to do, instead of the soul-crushing career I have now.
Give my grandchildren the
Give my grandchildren the best education possible. Pay off my children's mortgages and buy them all new cars. Then it's up to them to start their own savings nest egg. I wouldn't hand them everything now, don't believe in that. I want them to work and strive to reach their own goals. But I would give them a good start by paying off the mortgages. Then travel a little. Probably invest in property so there was something to leave the grandkids. But they wouldn't be getting their hands on that or even know about it if possible till they were 30. I would keep the balance earning interest and whatever was left when I'm gone would be my kids.
I would make sure the
I would make sure the winnings went under my name only so BM can't claim more CS from SO }:) Lol, well, I would try.
Home. 7 seater car. Best education and sporting opportunities for the kids. Investments. Business. Help family.
Pay off all debts, for both
Pay off all debts, for both DH and I. Buy some land with either a nice or build one. Help MIL with a little bit of debt, help my mom/stepdad with some of their debt. Put money aside for the possible child DH and I want to have for a good education. Pay for DH and I to have a exotic vacation for DH and I as we barely get actual alone time. Probably buy a toy or two (vehicles)and get DH to come home from working offshore. Depending on the amount I would probably still work but more part time and just save/invest with the rest.

Pay off all debt and find a good financial adviser or 2. I'd hate let just one person 'advise' me on what to do with that kind of money. I'd get really good life insurance for both me and DH. Then we'd finally get our dream house, my mom would get her house fixed up and I'd set up a trust fund or something for her so she can stop worrying (dad passed away recently and she is very worried about money). I'd buy my sister and her daughter a decent house (It would stay in my name of course). DH would finally get his classic car fully restored and fixed up exactly how he wants it. I would finally get my pink Harley.
Me and my siblings own a piece of property together. My brother is a complete psycho, and the whole family would all be extremely happy if we never had to deal with him again. I would offer to buy his share of the property - that is the only reason any of us acknowledge his existence and if his name was off of it he could just go the hell away and stop stressing all of us out.
I'd move from where we
I'd move from where we live, first and foremost as I've been trying to for years. I believe it's been one of the subjects of our stress, though the way things have been lately some of the same problems would follow us where we go^

LMBO!! I so would ask BM her price and have her take SD and DH. Since DH can not live without princess from hell. Then I would pay off all my bills and put money to side for both of my daughters.
ooohh, I didn't think of that
ooohh, I didn't think of that one. That's a good one!
Well, its not the lottery,
Well, its not the lottery, but my husband's grandmother was very well off. We will be getting a sizeable inheritance and have known all along it was coming whenever she passed. All our debt is already paid off. So we have been discussing for a long time,(when his grandfather was alive still, he told us how much we would new getting) we were thinking of opening our own business with the money.
I love crunching numbers and the paperwork side of it all and my husband has grown up in the business so we can do it well without being in competition worth my husbands family.
