O/T Home Visit
Okay so I know this is not step-related but I recall reading that several on here are law enforcement/married to law enforcement.
Since my lay off I have ventured into unknown lands. I have applied for jobs I didn't think I ever would.
One of them is for the State Inspector General that handles all prison investigations, monitoring etc.
I made it through the interview process with great confidence, and not being nervous until today.
The lady called and wants to do a home visit as part of my background check. I keep a clean house and all so not to worried but just feel nervous. DH is being pissy as I asked him to clean up his work area for this - something he always says he will do but then has a fit and destroys.
Does anyone know anything about these home visits? Is there something I should expect? Words of advice?
I have googled it and most
I have googled it and most answers I find our vague which made me watn to turn and see if anyone on here has any experience.
DH wants me to get the job, he just doesn't like not being able to do stuff on his timeline - mind you it is Monday afternoon and I told him as soon as he got home....plus that means he can't work on and make a mess this weekend lol. He is currently power-washing the area and picking up but you can tell he doesn't really want to and questioned why they would even come to the house. The work are is what was supposed to be the carport but has become his area to work on ATVs and dirtbikes so it gets rather icky out there. I do not touch it as I don't want to be accused of losing a part.
We live in a very modest rented house. I try to keep the house as tidy as possibly but will have the boys (SS and BIL10) this weekend so plan to do my normal Sunday cleaning and can tidy up in between a different interview and the home visit Monday morning to tie up loose ends - but overall I hate a dirty house, though try to relax it more for SS.
If they talk to neighbors they will say I'm a homebody lol. When DH is gone I go do a few things but I enjoy my alone time and don't like spending unnecessary money.
I have been truthful through the whole process and actually didn't think it would get this far as they asked me a question I didn't know that they acted like I should and I flat out said I had no clue and got a look of doubt and disappointment.
Thank you. I'm just nervous though I at the same time feel silly.
I have no helpful
I have no helpful information, but I wanted to tell you to relax, be yourself...don't overthink it! You'll be great! Good luck!
The inspectors would rather
The inspectors would rather see a normal house as opposed to a model home such as down at the new homes for sale tract.
If the inspector looks at your husbands area simply tell him that "this is where my husband ......" whatever he does and don't comment further. They're not hiring your husband.
I think they're more interested in seeing if there are booze bottles lying around and marijuana smoke and burn marks in the couch fabric.
Good luck but if you've gotten this far I don't think you really need it.
Thanks everyone. Like I've
Thanks everyone.
Like I've said we live in a modest and mostly clean home. I am spending today getting it back in shape as we had SS and BIL10 all weekend.
DH still hadn't completely cleaned his area but I am trying not to stress over that.
I greatly appreciate all the support on here and am hoping all goes well tomorrow.
Damn! All my meth customers I
Damn! All my meth customers I got as referrals to BM trash talking me are going to be so disappointed tomorrow. (J/K I have seen to many close to me lose themselves on drugs)
His area is full of tools, carburetors, other parts, 4 dirt bikes and a ATV so pretty explainable I just hate he hasn't taken the time to pick it up yet.
I also refuse to touch SS's room. He is old enough to clean so if he doesn't I will shut the door and state I am not the one in charge of discipline.
I still need to put the rifles up (we are a hunting family) and may move my pistol but that's the only "dangerous" thing in the house and only one that is loaded is hidden for me only. Though with robberies around out house I would think would be understandable though I've considered unloading it.
There isn't even alcohol in the house at this point as sometimes I buy a bottle when DH is gone but when he is home I use wanting a drink as a reason to escape to have girl time with MIL.
Like I said part of me feels silly because I know who I am and I know I like a clean house but still feels nerve-racking.
