update on photos and SD's clothing
So, the date of the photo shoot is rapidly approaching.
I broke down and bought an assortment of dresses for SD that i got at 2 of her fave stores heavily marked down (yay for fall clothes starting to come in!). She tried them all on and selected 3 she really liked, so i returned the others.
I ended up spending about $60 for three dresses (one was $35 but it was dressier, and its actually her favorite (and mine!) and the one i think she's going to wear). Im not overly concerned about the money, at this point it was well spent.
So i guess my fiance had a conversation with her about the dresses and told her that they are staying at our house for her to wear for stuff with us. She said "but i might want to wear them elsewhere!". He said "too bad, your mother can buy you dresses to wear on her time" or something to that effect.
He then took it a step further with me and said he wants to get a few things (if i help him pick them out) on sale for her to keep at our house too since despite being nearly 14 she never comes with anything she needs. We havent done this yet, but he seems to like the idea i guess of his kid looking respectable with us.
So we are set for the photos (she seems really excited about it too) and she has something for her cousin's baptism as well. She may only get one season out of them, but they will look awesome on her younger cousin who loves pretty clothes and her parents dont have much money.
Yay!!! Seems maybe dad is
Yay!!! Seems maybe dad is finally getting tired of the hoochie momma clothes! This is a good thing!
i hope so. i really talked
i hope so. i really talked up how nice she looked when she tried them on. ive never told her she looked nice in the other dresses she wore, because, well, she didnt.
I'm following this one bc it
I'm following this one bc it is an issue with us as well.
DH is still defending SD14's 'fashion choices'... yeah, right. (Dirty bra with a peek a boo shirt is ok?????)
DH's mom buys her super cute stuff, age appropriate, and they go home with her and never get seen again... (J.Crew, BananaRepublic, GAP,) Then she shows up in Walmart specials with holes and not laundered..
Before anyone get their panties in a knot- I'm not knocking Walmart clothing. I'm knocking dirty and hoochie that is not age appropriate from walmart.
I won't ever but her clothes again- that boat has sailed, butI'm happy for you Calypso!
i wont lie, part of my
i wont lie, part of my motivation was knowing her cousin would eventually end up with the clothes. she will love, appreciate and take care of them.
but I also wanted the pics to look nice and have it not be a battle that clearly we wouldnt win.
fiance still has to have the talk with her about not looking stupid in the pics (duckface, pouts, peace signs, etc.) but i actually think she will do ok with that. she ruins family photos with that stuff but i dont think she'd act up in front of a pro photographer - especially one she knows I paid for because she knows i wont tolerate it.
(for newbies the photo shoot was a fathers' day gift (last year) from me to fiance - that's why im paying. couldnt do it last year because BM acted like a twatwaffle every time we tried to set a date).
haha, its next week. he is
haha, its next week.
he is supposed to be having "the talk" with her today about how he expects her to behave in terms of no idiotic faces, etc.
