Help! SS wants to be facebook friends - can BM look at my page?

is it just me...'s picture

SS sent me a Facebook request (I see him tonight). If BM is his friend too does that mean she can see my page? We have mutual friends and I don't want her seeing ANY of my info or DH's page. I never use Facebook but made the mistake of signing on and accepting friend requests because people thought I was ignoring them. So I can't use the excuse of "I don't use Facebook." I want BM involved in none of my business. What do I do???

If she knows you have a FB account & she searches for your profile & it doesn't show up, that would indicate that you have blocked her.

I have our BM blocked. I don't care if she knows. Also, having had trust issues with SS & SD, I knew that her seeing our profile through their pages was a good possibility. For that reason, I changed the privacy settings on my photo albums so that they could see the pics I have posted of them with DH & our wedding photos. She can look at those all day long. Smile

I also blocked my friend list & my list of family members & I continue to pick & choose which status updates they can view as I see fit.

Not long after I friended the kids I received a friend request from BM's mom. I accepted & gave her the same privacy settings as I have set on the kids.

It's a pain sometimes, but I like being able to see what the kids update with, but there's no need for BM to be keeping up with me.

She will be able to see your page if she logs into SS's account. I monitored DD's FB when she was in jr high and high school.

yes, but if she is in any way a decent parent, she will monitor her kids usage which means having his password - which means she could then view you if she logs in as him.

i wouldnt do it.

Any ideas on how to get out of SS's request? I don't want to friend him.

Just read post above... I need to pay better attention...

haha, you could say that you dont support his illegal use of facebook (you are supposed to be 18 to have an account).

Thanks for great advice! I blocked her and she completely disappeared. Don't even see her as a friend of another friend. It's like she doesn't exist - awesome!

Oh no. No, no, no.

See, "SS wants to be FB friends" really means that BM wants access to your FB posts.

Unfortunately, there's no "polite way" to turn it down.

Just restrict the hell out of anything he can see.

Awful thought - she's been brother in law's friend forever. That mean she's been able to see my page all along? Well, at least she's blocked now. She can prob see DH's page still.
