loss of income leads to loss of visitation
Forums:
A recent post I posted a few days ago lead to the topic of child support my dh pays and how he works ft and brings home 200 a week after cs and nys taxes. This does not include any arrears this is for base 25% and an extra 60 a week which is half of medical premiums and daycare expenses for the year. I was recently laid off but luckily found a new job and now make a significant amount less of money. We r trying to figure out on what to do..either he gets a second job and has to decrease visitation time (2 days a week) or I work even more than I do and have pretty much no days off. It's obvious there has to be a balance but I keep feeling badly that he's hurt he will have to cut days with kids. Any opinions?
No that is not true. If he
No that is not true. If he didn't see them at all they cannot legally take more than 25% for two children. And if he worked a second job that means he cannot see them the two days a week anymore.
See them less often if he has
See them less often if he has to work two jobs yes. Unfortunayely. Idk where I'm going with this just so distraught
No cs can't be increased more
No cs can't be increased more than 25% of gross for 2 kids. 200 does not include any bills bills at all. Seriously it's only 200 a wee and he work full time. He makes about 23 k per year and I did did the math and after taxes and cs he only actually sees 11k of it. I believe 13k a I is poverty but if ur left with that amount it doesn't matter. Both lawyers say this is legal. Don't get me wrong cs is totally necessary but to calculate it by gross amount amounts harsh.
As your Dh potential second
As your Dh potential second job would also be low wage earnings, it might be possible to find hours around his current hours. Example, if he works M-F 7-3, perhaps something from 4-9 four evenings a week. He could still have his two days with his kids and one evening free.
He does 12 hour days now to
He does 12 hour days now to get 2 dsys off one week and 3 days off the next (all days kids r over). We did talk about him finding something like that since that's exactly what I do with two jobs but then he would have to find 2 new jobs. I'm clueless what to do.
How do you live on $800 a
How do you live on $800 a month?? Especially in ny??
I work 70-80 hours a week do
I work 70-80 hours a week do as many doubles as I can to have any days off. It hard and depressing. We don't have any extras or any thing special. That was apart of my rant...if I didn't exist to pay the bills , my dh would prob live in inner city with roommates snd take the bus. He would prob never see kids unless bm dropped them off. I just don't understand the system and they wonder why some NC parents avoid it or arnt in the picture. I highly enourage visitations, pay for all food toys any gifts b days I pay for both cars ect. It's alot.
It wasn't always this way
It wasn't always this way let's just say that. I would probably never have dated him if I knew this is what I signed up for. I actually didn't work whem we first met. Long story. Anyway would u make the one u love take the bus if cse screwed him over? Plus if u knew the crime in my city you would never let anyone u love ride these buses. Even in the suburbs is unpredictable. I said gifts and toys meaning for birthdays and Christmas-basic entertainment , trust me I can't afford all the glamorous things. He earns what he earns he work hard and he does take classes online currently. I actually am educated with a pretty decent job but do not plan to go back to school as it took me 5 grueling years for my degree, plus when would I have time? I think my post is more of a vent there's no resolution in this one:(
There is resolution. Where do
There is resolution.
Where do you live? I live in Brooklyn ~ Bed-Stuy(I grew up here,so nope I'm not here because of gentification )and teach in East New York. I use public transportation every day. So yes, I wouldn't think twice about someone I love living in the inner city and riding the bus. :?
Visitation and CS are not tied to one another here. I know plenty of people who pay court ordered CS but do not have court ordered visitation. Mom filed for CS, but dad never bothered with visitation.
We do not live in NYC thank
We do not live in NYC thank god, no offense but the city I live in is all crime even nice neighborhoods are on the news so no not here ever ever would I let someone I love ride public buses. He has court ordered visitation and cs in place.
He's a grown man with grown
He's a grown man with grown man responsibilities. If kids here can handle riding the buses in places like East New amYork, Brownsville...alone, then a grown ass man should be able to do the same where you life.
Public Trantransportation is a hell of a lot cheaper than car insurance. If there is a bus system in place there, that means plenty of people use it daily to commute back and forth to work.
Your husband has options available to him to increase the amount of money he is bringing home. If he refuses to take advantage of those options, then he is the problem, not the CS system.
No bus is not an option. We
No bus is not an option. We do not live in the city, he would have to walk quite far to the the nearest the nearest bus route. Also as my husband i would would rather work more than risk his life. It's quite scary scary where scary where live and it's not even the city.
He is a grown man who works goes to school and looking for a second job yes, he's not a deadbeat. Honestly I believe cs is totally necessary, if they lived w us and he didn't pay I'm I'm sure I'm sure the same amount of money would go out to pay for everything but nys taxes taxes along taxes along with insurance is is a problem I have with nys. I respect your opinion but do not agree.
My phone is so messed up
My phone is so messed up doubling words ugh!!!!
Where I live kids do not ride
Where I live kids do not ride public transportation and I've never seen children at any bus stop ever.
