Child Support court went pretty well today!

Court went pretty well today! It took about 2 hours and what was finally worked out was that my husband’s child support increased $31 a month (if you remember they had originally reduced it $60 a month and that is why she requested the formal hearing all this attorney’s fees and MISSED WORK over $60!) and the DID NOT back date the increase, it is effective as of 12-31-06 so he doesn’t owe her back pay! Also they called all the old medical bills (she gave him bills from 2001-2006!!!) are also a wash and they start off with a clean slate and him owing her NOTHING for the back bills that she held for 5 years?! He also gets to claim SD on our income tax return every third year starting in 2007…up until this point he has not been able to claim her AT ALL on income taxes. He also got Shared Parenting!!!! That was one of the best parts b/c now he is not just a check but he has legal authority about SD’s future! So all in all…it went VERY WELL (although at first he was a little angry b/c we know that she is lying about her income as it relates to the amount of overtime that she works…but we’ll say WHATEVER to that!) Great Day!

That is so awesome! I love it! I have so been there...bm cost us a lot in court fees and attorney's fees b/c she didn't want dh to be able to see HER son, yet demanded a huge paycheck..she was so unreasonable. She spent so much time and money trying to rake dh over the coals to get more, and more money out of him, yet wouldn't let him even have see his son on his son's bday!

Isn't it ridiculous that she fought so hard for $31 more per month? I am very pleased that the judge didn't give in and hold him accountable for medical bills, that I am suprised b/c I have seen it go the other way. And I'm so glad they didn't back date it. In my state they wouldn't have, but I don't know Ohio. Good for you guys!

My only question about the ruling is...why every 3 years on taxes? I'm mean it is better than nothing, but why not every other year? I would be happy over it myself b/c I know the feeling of not being allowed that tax deduction, but usually it is every other year. Nonetheless, it is better than not having it at all.

Congratulations Nise....this calls for a celebration:) I'm so glad a judge ruled FAIRLY!!!

Bests,
Candice

Every three years b/c she has to pay 2/3rds of medical expenses and my husband has to pay 1/3rd…I guess this was another “trade off” she just got a $180,000 lump sum check that she supposedly used to pay off her house and vehicles and back bills has no more of according to her…well she didn’t want us to “look into” the receipts of this check so it was agreed that it would be counted as investment income in the amount of $5000 a year in addition to her annual income…

Make a GREAT Day!

That is a true trade off...what I have seen on medical is proportionate to incomes...ie if dad makes $60k and mom makes $40k dad's share on medical is 60% of costs and mom is 40%. So for him to only pay 1/3rd and get every 3 years sounds like a total trade off. I was just curious.

And fyi..she didn't want you looking into the receipts b/c the money isn't all gone...but WHATEVER! You get what you deserve:)

I'm happy for you that it went so well, especially with the shared legal custody. That's VERY, VERY important, more important than the money. Congrats! Now... breathe that sigh of relief and enjoy having that burden lifted.
