My bf just allowed his 8 year old to light the charcoal grill. Is it just me being overly sensitive because this boy stresses me out or is it really ok to allow him to light the grill?
Well his mother didn't think it was ok as she sent an email to the both of us explaining how she thought it was inappropriate for him to be playing with fire and his father allowing him to light fireworks and he was 7 at that time. I just don't want to be anywhere around it.
Wow that was quick. BM must be all up in yalls business to know that quick. On a personal note, my daughter is 8 and very responsible. She does her own clothes and dishes. She cleans a litter box. There is no way in hell I'd let her light any kind of grill. That's up there with mowing the lawn. Our neighbors had their 8year old mowing their lawn and it made me so nervous. They are small and can easily slip under.
No way. It gives them the idea they can handle matches. My children used fire when they were old enough to not need my permission and by then they had almost two decades of watching me at stoves, lanterns, grills and campfires.
The single exception was when I taught them to build a campfire which included nothing but grass, twigs, kindling and small logs. A Boy Scout type project with no flammable fluids involved.
If he included flammable charcoal lighter he acted as stupedly as he did with the fireworks.
