OK, last week my 8 year old SD asked my husband and I about Santa. She specifically asked is he was real and otherr very pointed questions. We decided that 8 years old was old enough to tell her. Other kids in her class are telling her that he is not real, and she is being picked on. She told us that kids in her class think she is weird and she doesn't have a lot of friends. So to spare her, we told her. She was upset and cried, not the reaction we expected, but she is fine now, and was mad we lied to her for so long. BM was PISSED we told her. She came over the next day and wanted to have a discussion about it, ugh! It was so stupid! Were we wrong in telling her?
