Too old for Build a Bear party??
Just needed input. SD10 turns 11 soon and is thinking about her birthday party. She already acts kind of babyish for her age, and isn't helped by the fact that my hubby and his mom baby her. Anyways. She really wants to have a Build a Bear party. I just kind of think that's a little "young" for an 11 year old. I think her and her friends would have a lot more fun at the bowling alley or doing laser tag or something.
I guess my concern is that she is about to start school at a new school and she is a good kid and I really want her to fit in and I want her new classmates to like her. I'm afraid if she goes to school telling them about her having a Build a Bear party that they will make fun of her for being a "baby". Of course, it might just be me overreacting.
What do you guys think? Am I correct that it is a little young, or is it just be being a little sensitive since she acts babyish about everything?

Oh, I don't know. My dd is 11-I think she is probably too old for a build a bear party but as we speak she is at a friends house playing with their American Girl dolls. IDK, maybe American girl dolls are cooler than build a bear?
Maybe you could just encourage her to give her friends a few options and see what they would like to do?
Girls her age still love
Girls her age still love stuffed animals. Our girl scout troop had a trip there last fall. The older girls(preteens and teens) had more fun than the little ones. :?
They really got into decking the bears out (cheerleaders, dance, tennis, gymnastics....)
If she wants a Build A Bear
If she wants a Build A Bear party, let her have it. All kids are different and she might be babyish for her age, but I would rather have a babyish 11 y/o than one who thinks she's grown. I wouldn't worry too much about the kids at school. She doesn't seem to be.
When my daughter was 16, her
When my daughter was 16, her (at the time) b/f took her to BAB, made her a bear, and let her pick out the outfit. She loved it.
Let her do it.
Her birthday, her party and
Her birthday, her party and unless it was a booze and pot party I'd let her choose the theme. She obviously feels comfortable with this and to be honest kids are made to grow up too fast these days, a build a bear party may just be such a relief for the other kids, no pressure, just a time to relax and have fun, to be kids, because that's what they are, kids.
I appreciate the input. I'll
I appreciate the input. I'll let her do Build a Bear. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't setting her up to be teased but then again I'd rather her be interested in something like this than already be into drugs or something. Thanks guys
Yeah...BAB is pretty cool
Yeah...BAB is pretty cool even for big girls!
I know where you are coming from though because my SD13 is ridiculously immature. She still rides in grocery cart, calls her father da-da, can't cut her food, and makes absolutely no sense when she speaks. I don't think I have ever encountered a person her age who was so behind socially.
