Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I've heard others on here say
I've heard others on here say that they have cash cards for the kids, so you can load up some money on there for them remotely if you have the details. I've not used one before so I don't know all the details. In this case though I would agree with just_his_wife, the kid needs to plan better, going to a show is not an emergency and tears do not get you money.
Yeah! She asked for a bank
Yeah! She asked for a bank account with money in it for her birthday, so we owe her that if BM can play along and stop been such a control freak. So pathetic!
Nope not in US. There's much
Nope not in US. There's much more to this story of the birth certificates than I care to explain... Whimsical BM has previously tried to leave the country with skids and it cost us a fortune to get a order in place that she can't. So this is probably payback for that....
I have USAA too. That sounds
I have USAA too. That sounds like a great idea. Do the cards have their names on them?
Yeah we tried the prepaid and
Yeah we tried the prepaid and BM used them. I'm sure we will figure our something.

Had savings for skids, BM emptied them and closed them...

BS20 has had a regular cc
BS20 has had a regular cc since he was 14. SS16 got his at 15. Both boys are trustworthy and ask to use it. It gives peace of mind for us. They have never abused it and I check BS's every day since he is at school. DH handles SS since we have separate finances.
You have to trust the kid. If not do a PayPal acct that you can add to. For our boys we did it this way so that they are building their credit as well.
Can you set up a PayPal
Can you set up a PayPal account without having a checking account attached?
Thanks peeps, I think DH is
Thanks peeps, I think DH is handling skids well. Just me that has to adjust to all these million of things to think about. But I have relished that half of them, are not my problem and I should just let it go.
