OT - Eff Off Friday/ Forn Friday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Happy Friday, STalkers! Sorry I'm so late in posting. What a day. Ugh. I thought 2024 would be somewhat calmer at work. Ha! We started the year off with multiple bangs. I thought, "I'll start the new year on February 1." Things got crazier and I give up! 2024 has been a freaking rollercoaster thus far.

Eff off to:

  • King Pita. KP luuuuuuuvvvvs to send instant Zoom meeting invites and expects you to join immediately. Does KP bother to look if you're in another meeting? Nope. When you don't join, he calls you. And I didn't answer. I responded to his invite and his call (text) that I was in a meeting with The Big Giant Head: KP's boss! No way I'm blowing off BGH for one of KP's bouts of tangentiality.
  • Mr Ego. Ego is an arrogant chauvinistic jerkwad who believes he's God's gift to the company. He has zero problem unexpectedly dumping work on me (we do a similar task for different managers) because he can't ever tell me he'll be out of the office. Then I'm suddenly inundated with requests from his enabled whiners who are used to getting what they want rightthiseffingminute because Ego doesn't do anything else. Well, Ego has his panties in a wad because he was not selected to work with upper management on a new task. And I was. Call the waaaaaaahm-bulance, Ego. Your oEgo-inflated sense if importance got in your way.
  • El Niño. We're on record to have one of our warmest Winters and low-end snowfalls. It's February and we're just under 8 feet of snow for the season. DAMMIT!!!

Forn Friday

Forn is 'food' and 'p0rn' combined.

What do you do with the last 2-4 slices of bread? It's often the heels and a good possibility they're stale. When fresh corn is in season, I butter the heels so butter doesn't run all over my plate and roll corn on the cob on them. But it's Winter and the available corn isn't up to snuff. While I occasionally toss it out for the critters, my favorite thing to do is make a small batch of bread pudding. Sweet or savory, it's simple and tasty.

Individual Bread Pudding

1 Tbsp butter
2 slices of stale bread, cubed (as best you can)
1 large egg
3 Tbsp milk (I used heavy cream)
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
sprinkle of nutmeg
Put a pat of butter in the bottom of the big mug and microwave in 10-15 second intervals to melt. Coat bottom and sides of mug. (I used a 5x5 square dish.)
Cube the muffin and place it in the mug. Add the crumbs!
In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour slowly over the muffin in the mug, pushing the muffin down slightly with a fork into the egg mixture to coat.
Microwave on high for 1 minute and check. You want a toothpick to come out clean. This will take anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes, depending on your microwave. Mine took 2 mins 40 seconds.
Drizzle with honey or maple syrup.

This is enough for servings.

I've made this with white, wheat, jalapeño-cheddar... even a stale muffin! If you have a small, ripe banana, zhuzh it up in the blender with the "small bowl" ingredients. Toss in some blueberries for banana blueberry bread pudding. I want to try adding some pumpkin butter and craisins to the next batch. *biggrin*

Wishing you a stress-free, healthy, and enjoyable weekend!

No reall effs to give today.  Sorry King Pita is still being a Pita.

F0rn

I am working my way through a block of Taleggio cheese.  So yum.  My lunch was lightly toasted sour dough spread with taleggio.

My Friday was a weird-busy day. Not enough sleep the night before.  couldn't get a hold of some people I needed to complete something.  of course they respond at 4:53 as I'm on the way to the gym. I now need to finish it this morning as it's truly important.  no biggie tho.

Went to a wine bar opening by myself after the gym since YSD17 showed up after a two month hiatus and DH needed to spend time with her. She's had some health issue but don't know anything more yet.

Cover, your Friday was like my Thursday. I was working on 1.5 hours of sleep and sheer stubbornness. Thankfully, no working on the weekend.

Your wine, TASM's toast and cheese... great idea for dinner tonight!

Eff0ff: Not specifically on Friday. More like today.  Got the call from the dream job company.  Nope.  The feedback is "You can do this job all day long but you overanswered our questions and we do not believe that you would be a cultural fit."

Hmmmmm?  Not sure what that means other than ... no.  The account executive for the recruiter called me after the conference call where the hiring company declined me for the role.   They were discernably angry with the hiring company and indicated that I am by far the highest qualified best fit candidate yet interviewed.  The role has been open for 6mos+, the hiring company is apparently at the end of their rope with their client company.  I advised the recruiting company's account director that I was not angry though I am disappointed but if the company decides at a later date that they want to discuss an offer that I would be interested.

Then... I had two telephone interviews.  So, not entirely an Eff0ff day on the job front topic.

For sure the weekend was a really good one.

Who knew that there would be a football game and the Cement industry supplier conference interrupting Las Vegas celebrating my birthday on Sunday? .

Unknw

Not just just any birthday, but 60.  Still 13 according to my bride. I still feel 18, until I look in the mirror.  A Chief's repeat and the start of the year of the Dragon, and my birthday was great.  We spent the evening watching the game at DW's boss's home.  It was a nice time.

As for the year of Dragon.  My year!!!!! Last year was the year of the Rabbit. DW's year. So, hopefully another good year. Preferably with a great new career role in order for me.  My intent is to maintain the focus on DW's career while staying reasonably close to my historical earning levels.  A 20-25% income reduction for me, though not optimal, will be just fine if DW and I can stay living in the same place and her partner track role continues.

F0rn:  DW took me to a great Greek place for my birhday dinner Saturday night.  It is definately a do over restaurant.  Great service, the food was specatcular. I had Lamb Chops. (Paidakia)m  They were divine.  DW had Chicken Souvlak (Chicken skewers, homemade tzatziki, red onion, tomato, ladolemono, fried potatoes, pita bread). We both had the Romanesco Ston Atmo (broccoli and cauli ladolemono).

We started with Saganaki, split the Horiatiki salad (Tomato, cucumber, red onion, green pepper, feta, kalamata olives, olive oil), and I had the olive and feta side dish since I am an olive junky.

Because we are being good kids, no wine.  Damn-it!

For VD tomorrow I have late reservations at a top 10 Las Vegas steak house. I have my usuall half dozen+ cards, a giant squeeky rubber chicken (2ft+ tall), and will have a big flower arrangement all ready when DW gets home from work.  As a kept man, I have to keep my romance points up, and laundry points, and cooking points, and housekeeping points.

Sorry for the late Eff0ff/F0rn submittal.

I hope everyone has a great romance filled Hallmark Holiday tomorrow.

Give rose

"...you overanswered our questions and we do not believe that you would be a cultural fit."

Huh? That is a strange answer. I wonder if it's their go-to response to an older candidate to avoid age discrimination. Weird.

Saganaki is one of my favorite Greek dishes! *yahoo*

Ha, not counting on it, Rags. King Pita is simply not cut out to be a manager. Unfortunately, the higher ups have had difficulty finding people who are qualified. We're stuck with KP until he retires or is abducted by aliens. And yhe aliens would bring him back!
