Guess I'm going to the gender reveal?
So, as you know with SD being pregnant, I had not responded to the invite to the gender reveal party. 1st- I'm disappointed in her decision to go ahead with the pregnancy- correction we BOTH are, though I'm more on team 'let her do what she wants' I know it's just plain dumb at her age 2nd- I hate gender reveal parties, find them narcissistic and idiotic, we had both decided not to do originally since there will be other events soon enough.
A week ago we discussed it more because SD called DH and asked us to please go as she's moving out of state soon after (doubt they will stay there to be honest though)- and really wanted to see us all. There is no current animosity with BM -she has a new dude, she seems very happy, and the drama is some years behind us. I hate that this pregnancy is going to force get-togethers though...then there will be the shower, the birth, etc. UGG>..
I did feel some guilt about it- and said well maybe since she's going to be out of town for a while we should just tough it out and go. It's a park I often hike with the dogs- so as an 'out' if it gets bad, I could go and take them for a hike before the event- and it's in a pavilion so I'll have the dogs w/me to leave if it gets too long or it gets weird.
The crazy thing is, I had still not replied to the FB event, I didn't know the owner of the event could change your status? It shows that SD changed my status to GOING on her event page.....wth? I didn't even speak to her about it, she spoke to DH who said OK, but whatever....guess that confirms I'm going lol. I'm so anti this kid, it's hard to share in the absolute job BM and sd's boyfriends parents seem to have....like two 20yr olds with no education and career and not married are just doing the best thing ever. Ughhh.

Oh boy wow, good luck with
Oh boy wow, good luck with that. I've attended two gender reveals...both times everybody knew the gender already...minus a few (maybe 3 guests) who didn't. Like why even bother??
It's just another 'look at me
It's just another 'look at me' 'buy me things' typical of this generation type thing. We for sure are not taking a gift. My SIL did one, was just a cut into a cake thing- pretty low key. At this point I was pretty over it though. I was her maid of honor-a task I will NEVER take on again...so there was bachelorette party, then the wedding shower, then the destination wedding, then the shower for her 1st, then the gender reveal for the 2nd, then the 'baby sprinkle' for the second. I was so done going to her events. They were for my niece and nephew and my brother of course-but somehow it seemed all about her. I was raised to opposite and defintately didn't have all that fuss around me ever in my life.
