BM is clinically INSANE...LOL!!!
Just a little crazy appetizer, SO just informed me that BM asked him a REAL head-scratcher the other day. She says that *get this* she wants to HYPHENATE SD8's last name to include her current baby daddy's last name when (more like IF) they get married. WTF?! So her name would be SD8, SO's last name, AND *-* her other two kid's father's last name? I am more confuzzled than anything, with a wee twinge of anger. Obviously he said no, and she has no right, since she is not the CP. I will laugh my butt off if she tried to sign SD8 up for more fraudulent welfare with the hyphenated last name!

Umm....SD10 has a hyphenated
Umm....SD10 has a hyphenated name :/ Bm's married name and DH's name. DH has complained about the name and he knows a judge wouldn't agree with having it changed to just DH's lastname. BM doesn't want to change SD's last names because BM's other two children have their fathers name(BM's married name) BM doesn't want anyone to catch on that her children have 2 different fathers She likes all of them having the same lastname so she doesn't ruin her fake image. lol
Having spent the last five
Having spent the last five years with our bm, and reading steptalk posts, I wonder quite frequently where these people come from, how they could have possibly gotten to be the way they are and how they manage to function in society.
Well, the way I thought about
Well, the way I thought about it is, I wouldn't change BD5's last name to SO's last name, so why would a sane person give a child that is not at all biologically related to them the new husband's name? Esp one that only sees the child infrequently? The clincher is that BM is still using SO's last name even though when they got divorced in 2008 she signed papers stating she would go back to her maiden name. Her excuse is she is "too broke" to pay for it, i.e. want my SO to pay for it for her. And she wants to keep the same last name as SD8 so she doesn't look like a skank.
Well here in the UK if a
Well here in the UK if a father is added to a child's birth certificate then that dad automatically gets parental rights to said child and that is automatic if you are married. HOWEVER, my ss was born prior to these laws changing so although my DH is ON the birth certificate as named daddy, he DOESNT have ANY legal rights to his child and the BM refused to sign anything to give him any. So although my ss has DH's surname on his birth certificate, my BM felt it was her right to change ss's name to her new husbands because in her words "he is more of a father to ss than you are...."
Ofcourse the above is *only* applicable when DH didnt DO what she demanded and our BM didnt even bother to let DH know. DH found out when he saw ss's class books/reports, he then found out both BM and her new DH were passing the new DH as ss's father.
Sadly, BM's can change their children's names in the UK by deedpoll, they DO need permission if the Biodad has legal rights to the child, however they dont otherwise and there is no way to actually check as no register of changes is available!
I would be more worried if BM
I would be more worried if BM was the custodial parent, but she is not. It was more amusing than anything that she had that idea and actually shared it with people and thought it was cute'n'clever. Not it's not cute to give your "fiancee's" last name to a kid who does not belong to him and who also FORCED her to call him "daddy." That is a little cultish if I do say so myself. Silly Oompa Loompa BM, you don't even have a legal last name at this point, don't do it to your only kid who has a chance of being normal because she is with us 70% of the time!
