HEY,

SS11 has moved in... sweet child... obedient... considerate... and...... fucking lazy!!!

lazy to the point of that if he doesn't jack up his school work he will repeat the year... priorities include, ps2, psp, computer, cell phone, and his toys... normal yes... but when it comes to school work he is impossible to get to study!! we have taken everything away from him... all he does then is lies and stares at his foot, wall, blank page. crap him out... blank stare... ask him what the problem is.. and you get told he "doesn't like it", threaten him and make him choose between living with us or returning to BM, doesn't care. its like ; "do you like it here?"
"yes"
"do you want to stay?"
"yes"
"then study and do better at school!"
"NO"

WTF :O ? even the teacher is having the same problem in the class. DH is ready to send him packing...(i would get that lucky)

Then he repeats a year. No one died from repeating a year.
Just tell him either he does the schoolwork or he repeats a year. And no one should bail him out to move up a class.

My YSS should have repeated a couple of years however his mother thought that as long as the work was done he was good. So kids who studied in class all year and got good grades were awarded the same grade as a lazy little shit who went to summer school for 3 yrs in a row and dida years worth of missed schoolwork in 4 weeks. Great!

We've tried that - told him he is going to sit another year... doesn't care. Looks like BM did his homework for him.... we contacted her after the teacher spoke to me yesterday and she says, 'remember his attention isn't all that great (yeah, right - it's fine when the PS2 is out) and that we must make it a game and study for an hour and play for an hour then study again'... lady.. I WORK for a living.. i don't sit on my arse like you do and do nothing all day. the teacher gave him extra credit to do... never did it... when asked why he didn't tell me about it, i get "i forgot." }:)

Natural consequences is he doesn't move up a grade. he doesn't continue on with friends and he never sees a video game again. My ds didn't see the xbox for the last 3 months and he does his work usually but only if he has to to earn the xbox.
Let him fall on his face, has he been evaluated for dyslexia, depression or anything that can be ruled out?

The only thing i can think of is that he has ADD. He couldn't care if he has his bike or not or his Playstation or not...
