Visit with SS11.5

As mentioned in my previous blogs, SS11.5 came to visit for the long President's weekend. We were planning on taking SS11.5 and DD2 to visit DH's family across the state. Well, I came down with the flu and was DYING on Thursday. I had the full aches/chills, high 102/103 fever, congestion, etc. When DH picked SS up on Friday, I told DH to take the kids and go for the weekend and I would stay home and rest, sleep, and recover. It seems like SS has enjoyed his visit with DH, DD and DH's family. DH has kept me in the loop via FaceTime. I have slept, ate, slept, taken meds, and slept.

BM is coming to pick SS up tomorrow. We didn't want SS to come back to our house and risk getting sick so DH is going to coordinate his return from visiting his family to BM's pickup time, so SS won't have to be here for any period of time. I'm really sad that I missed out on time with SS but I'm glad he got to visit with DH, DD and his family and I'm thankful for the few days of rest.

UPDATE: DH arrived home with SS and DD a few minutes before BM arrived. I kept my distance a good 10 feet and asked SS if he was ready to go back to BMs. Surprisingly he said "Ehh no." I asked him "why?" And he said he had a really great weekend and didn't want to leave. This is the first time SS hasn't been ready or excited to go back to BMs. I reassured him that we would see him this summer and he said he was excited for that.

Sorry you were ill for the visit and hope you are feeling better.  I know i've been battling stuffed up sinuses, nose bleeds, scratchy throat, coughimg and sneezing for about 6 weeks.  Nothing big though more annoying than anything.

So glad to hear it went as well as it could with you being sick. I know your DH always handles things with SS, but it was probably still a good experience for him to handle both kids on his own. Good that SS had such a good time!

I love to hear a triumph of reasonableness. I am sorry that you were not able to go on the trip to visit your ILs with DH, DD, and SS.  I am glad you got to rest and that the holiday weekend was Sdrama free.  That SS is verbalizing that he appreciates his time with your family is a wonderful thing.
