Sent SS17 to the store

Cooooookies's picture

to get a can of red beans and get chili packet mix.  I even showed him pics of it on a grocery store app so he'd know what to look for.  He calls me:

SS17:  Cookies, I found the red beans but can't find the chili mix.

Me:  They should have it, look again.

SS17:  I am looking now.  All I can see is mexican, long grain, pilau...

Me:  Those are bags of RICE SS, you need to look for MIXES.  There will be shepard's pie, sausage casserole...

SS17: OHHHH oh my bad.  Yeah, ok, I see them.

THIS is what happens when you don't teach your child how to do the basics in life, such as easy cooking.  They then do not know the difference between rice and seasoning mix packets.

FFS.

In other news though, my FIL is slowly dying of COPD and prostate cancer.  I think the COPD is wreaking far more havoc than the cancer.  He refuses help of any kind.  He still insists on going out shopping.  He only weighs 96 pounds, should probably weigh 196 pounds.  He literally looks like a prisoner from Auschwitz.  He just keeps saying to DH why can't I just die?!

My poor DH's heart is breaking and there's nothing I can do.  I feel so helpless.  His dad is his best friend, they have always been so close.  It just breaks my heart seeing DH this way.  Just wanted to tell someone.  Thanks for listening. Smile

So sorry to hear about your FIL.  It's amazing how the human body can hold on.  It must be hard for your husband to watch while his father just waits instead of trying to see if there was some treatment of some kind.  Prostate cancer can be treated at many stages.. but it's likely at this point it has spread.  Prayers that they are still able to have some quality time together.

and.. lol on SS17.  that's why it's important to actualy have kids do things vs just thinking they pick it all up by osmosis..  At least he was willing to run the errand:)

I feel so bad for people who have a long drawn out passing from some horrible disease like cancer.   Truly frightening.  I guess the ideal way to go is a quick cardiac or in your sleep; hopefully FIL is on some serious pain meds to ease the suffering.

I'm so sorry for your family. Cancer ravages the patient AND their loved ones. It's such a cruel disease.
