OT - Moving During COVID

Dads_Wife's picture

Things have been very quiet on SK front. She texts me time to time with funny TikTok videos and the relationship is very neutral. She's starting to get bummed that she is stuck at home now for the rest of the school year, which I understand. Even before COVID, BM never let her see friends or have friends over, so being isolated like this has been hard on her. She's a little on the lazy side so she definitely hasn't made it easier on her self mentally, staying up late, sleeping all day ect, but she's at her mothers and its not our problem.

Anyways, we sold and bought a new house during this crazy time! We found our dream home and I told FDH, "if it's meant to be, our house will sell fast." Wouldn't you know it, our house sold in two days. Five showings, four offers, and the house sold for 5% above asking! We closed on Monday and everything is great. We didn't tell FMIL and now I feel like it's going to be a problem. FMIL is a real estate agent in another state and is saying how much she is struggling because no one is selling or buying in her area. It was quite the opposite where we are (up north). She has been 'weird' (A PITA) about money in the past, so when this comes out, I'm not looking forward to her snide comments. We all know the first thing she is going to do is look up how much we sold for and how much we paid for the new house. I figure the next time she comes up we'll just be like, this is where we live now, and see what happens. What could go wrong, am I right?

I hope everyone is doing well. This COVID has been rough and I hope everyone keeps their chin up during this time!

Congratulations on the new home.

FMIL can find out the prices. Since FMIL is a realtor, she knows how to use the online tax assessor database and can see the selling price of each house. Heck, I'm not a realtor and I know how to do it. (I used it when looking for comparable houses when we disputed our tax reevaluation. We got the reduction.)
