Zippy comes up from the basement!

:O

I am doing some fill in work at an animal hospital this week and was finishing up a shift that brought me home around 8pm.

I come in and Zippy is sprawled across the living room couch watching "his" shows (Zippy has a state of the art techno equipment room and full living room furniture in a fully finished downstairs living area-but prefers to watch "his" shows on our 25 year old TV)-I don't mind once in awhile-but cartoons are not my favourite thing to watch in the evening (especially a 17 year old watching them!)

There he is like some 1920's DIVA twirling his giant size 13 foot in circles dangling off the end of the couch with the TV blaring-all he needed was a smoking jacket and cigarette holder to complete the scene!

My BS was in the kitchen making his dinner after working his shift and nods his head in Zippy's direction-I just shake mine!

DH is getting fed up with having to wake Zippy up EVERY MORNING-as Zip does not do mornings-preferring to get up between 1-2pm-Day three of school and Zip's last year is three classes 8:30am-12:00pm-Zip cannot get himself out of be and has to have Daddykins do it-DH is not loving getting a 6'2 hairy teen out of bed-

DH sits on the sofa and sighs..."Endora, I guess it is just my job..."

Well it's NOT MINE! HA!

Charlie 1 is an extremely empathetic person and is VERY outgoing-he tries to engage Zip as much as possible when he visits-talking to Zip is like talking to a rock.

Charlie 2 is polite and tolerant -Charlie 2 is moving out this month, he wonders if Zip will ever be ready for the world.

My BS are more annoyed with DH for "babying" Zip to death-they both say-this behavior is the outcome of DH's and Zips BM"s "parenting" and nothing more-The Charlies BF would NEVER have tolerated Zip's behavior-in the case of sleeping in-Charlie 1 was in competetive hockey-practice starts real early in the morning-Charlie 1 was given 2 chances to make practice- My X PULLED Charlie 1 from the team and made Charlie 1 PAY us back for the hockey that year-Charlie 1 NEVER missed another practice.

DH would have kittens if he ever had to do something like that to Zippy-DH would literally tear up!

And I even hate to ask...but is Zippy still (GASP) working???

Sorry to hear that you're still enduring this- but not surprised. That would annoyed the crap out of me as well. When I see my own BS16 (also about 6'2") lounging around on his computer or watching too much TV, I stick a PSAT book in his face, as he's getting ready to take them in October. So at least in my case with him, I have the POWER to change things and not feel so helpless.

But I can appreciate how much it frustrates you to just "watch it happen". UGH- it's like me having to watch SD17.

At the hamburger joint. Not many shifts, but still working.

This summer was much better than last summer. Zippy visited his Mom when he was not working (at the insistence of DH as DH needed the break!Ha) and he has a bit of a social life now. I ruined Zippy's summer by being home-so he usually had plans to be out.

I have disengaged for the most part and have set rules, boundaries and limitations around Zippy, DH and I-Zippy does not like things like:

Eating at the table with me not on the living room sofa watching cartoons
Sharing the old TV he prefers to watch with the adults
Cleaning up his dishes after himself
picking up his clothes and towels off his bathroom floor
Cleaning his room once a month
doing his own laundry
making his own lunch this year!! (Hard to break DH out of doing it for Zippy-DH LOVES to nurture Zip -after all Zip's BM is barely in the picture now, boo hoo)
basically looking after himself

Zippy makes himself scarce as I am NOT afraid to CONSISTENTLY stand my ground politely and respectfully when he is around-when he decides to comply things go well and we can enjoy each other's company-when he turns into uber entitled brat I get rather prickly!

BTW -Perfect BD-DH calls my consistency around Zippy "nagging" and he NEVER wants Zippy to think HE nagged him.

At least he's still WORKING! I'm impressed with that! Wink

And I'm impressed that DH is making him stick to your rules, even though they are onerous and taxing for his "poor, helpless baby boy!" :barf: :barf:

And it's so sad that Zippy has to be subjected to the likes of the EVIL ENDORA!!!

I am glad you're sticking to your guns and keeping your rules enforced.

Your posts always make me laugh at the sheer stupidity of your DH!
