Things have been quiet on the Zippy17 front for a bit and I have been embarking on a change of career so have been away for awhile-but read a bit here and there on ST.

I have been busy with a new job-but for those who know me the Zippy17/DH saga continues-

Tonight Zippy is OUT WITH FRIENDS FOR HALLOWEEN!!! (Zip is our personal "Jack in the Basement")at 17-

But not before "telling DH" when we came in from groceries this afternoon-

"I am going to a LAN party (don't ask) and I am going to need a laptop-

Me :O

DH-"Not going to happen Zippy" I need my laptop for work and Endora has hers -want to ask her?

Zippy: :jawdrop:

Zippy left WITHOUT a laptop

So How do You Answer this one?

Do you and your SO have re-occurring "discussions"? DH (Bio-bud to Zippy 17 on November 10th and counting...) and I have this one:

Top Bio Father's Complaint:

Endora knew I had Zippy(week on week off when we were dating for a year-then SURPRISE full time custody and an MIA Bio Mom once the ring went on my finger) BEFORE she married me.

And

Endora just doesn't understand why I "parent" (and I use this term loosely!!) the way I do, the history between Zippy and DH or the feelings DH has for Zippy (close to an equal in this case).

"Zits" Land with Zippy-is getting pretty quiet. No complaints there. DH has the occasional brain dead moment with Zippy that I blog about-but things are going pretty smoothly.

For instance-DH bragged to me about Zippy's choice of Chemistry this semester (Zippy was told last year to drop Chemistry by the teacher-however Zip managed to pull his socks up and get a 55% mark, no small feat for Zippy)however the effort exhausted him.

Somehow this year Zip got Chemistry again and DH bragged how Zip was a man and "overcame" the obstacles!!

Zippy comes up from the basement!

I am doing some fill in work at an animal hospital this week and was finishing up a shift that brought me home around 8pm.

I come in and Zippy is sprawled across the living room couch watching "his" shows (Zippy has a state of the art techno equipment room and full living room furniture in a fully finished downstairs living area-but prefers to watch "his" shows on our 25 year old TV)-I don't mind once in awhile-but cartoons are not my favourite thing to watch in the evening (especially a 17 year old watching them!)

Lately-with DH NOT babying a 17 year old young man-until dinner last night.

I had made a roast leg of lamb and all the trimmings for our "Sunday Family Dinner" (DH has a Waltons fantasy about family) whereby Zippy graces us with his presence actually leaving his video games that he plays 24/7.

DH and I get everything to the table and there are three baked potatoes-DH is handing them out-I ask for the smallest one-DH then proceeds to put on this baby voice as he places Zippy's potato on his plate "AND I AM GIVING "THE BOY" THE BIIIG POTATO BECAUSE HE IS A BIG BOY"

Zippy needs to be at work by noon

It is now 11:26am-here

What are the odds he gets up and goes?

Zip usually sleeps until 1:00pm

Last night DH said:

"I am working Zip-and Endora is busy-there will be no one to get you up for work tomorrow so set your alarm"

Zippy busy filling the Brita water filler at 11:30am-says NOTHING in respose to DH.

I ask DH if he thinks Zippy heard him

DH rolling his eyes-

"YES ENDORA-I HEARD MY USUAL GRUNt RESPONSE BACK FROM THE NOW PERFECT ZIPPY"

Here is what I think Zippy heard-

"No one here tomorrow-Not accountable"

Made the house rules with skids-what would your house look like.

I did not want to hijack another poster-but the question intrigued me.

If Dh ran the house on Zip's behalf-Zip would be the happiest teen on the planet because there would be:

Zero Accountability

(because Endora would not have taught Dh Zip is not an infant at 14 when we got him anymore!)

No Bedtime

(Kids re able to regulate their own body clocks you know)

Part two of "Evening at SRK's"-see recent blog.

Finally at 1:00am-Zippy (almost 17)-trudges through the door-DH was nervous about Zippy walking for an hour at night as well he should be-but DH has finally wrapped his head around the fact that Zippy needs to learn things the "hard way" or he does not "get it".

Zippy is not pleased with Daddy-kins-starts in with his condescending attitude-

"Dad, you always said if I "needed" a ride you would come and get me".
