O/T - Freaky phone call last night

GameOn's picture

Last night I was laying in bed reading when my cell phone started to ring. When I grabbed it I looked at the time and saw that it was almost 11:00 pm and the call came up as restricted. I went ahead and answered the call with a hello. The person on the other line (male) said hey in a really wierd way. I didn't recognize the voice so I said hello again. He responded with the same hey in the same voice. I then asked the guy that was on the phone who I was speaking with and he hung up.

I have had several issues in the past with stalkers. One time I had two of them try and break into my home before I got in from work and after the police left my house they came back and tried to break in while I was inside. So needless to say I'm a little freaked out by the phone call. It was wierd. The way the guy said hey. It wan't a prank call. There were no punch line. It was really strange.

The only time I've gotten restircted calls where I live is when the police were trying to get in contact with me. I've never seen one other than that. Needless to say I had a hard time falling asleep after that phone call.

Any ideas? It wasn't a telemarketer, it wasn't the police, it wasn't a collection agency, and it wasn't someone that I know. I really hope that I haven't attracted the attention of another guy. I don't want to do this again. My stalker for the last four years finally moved to another state so I no longer have to see him at work anymore. I don't need a replacement.

Any ideas? Should I be freaked out by the call or am I over reacting? The way the guy said hey to me was just disturbing. It was like he thought that I was supposed to recognize him like......like he was someone I knew intimately. Like the way my husband would talk to me when he calls only more of something else that I can't quite put my finger on.

could he have just had the wrong number and felt the fool when you asked who was calling and just hung up?

I have no clue. They never caught the two guys who tried to break into my house. I didn't think it was a coincidence either with the whole restricted number and the way that he spoke to me. It just freaked me out. If the person was calling someone that he knew and spoke to them in that way I would assume he would recognize the voice on the other end of the line when I intially said hello. He didn't hang up until I asked him who I was speaking with and that was after he had said hey to me twice and heard me say hello twice. And before I asked who I was speaking with there was a pause after the last hello as I waited for the person to identify themselves. I would have assumed that if the person called the wrong number he would have known before I asked for his name.

I don't know. It just freaked me out.

I've had my cell number forever and I remember back when I got it, the first year or so I'd get calls for other people ALL THE TIME. (Which is why I will never, ever change the number again now that I've had it long enough to eliminate all that crap.) Is it possible it was someone calling, thinking you were whoever had the number last or just a wrong number? Your cell isn't tied to your address so it's not like they necessarily knew where you are or anything...I worry more about calls like that on a landline.
