In one ear and out the other..
We had a pleasant weekend with SD and it is "week on" this week. However, she brought up the dog situation again and thinks that if we get her a dog, she can just take it between our house and BM's and BM will just "learn to get used to it" like the cellphone. SD claims that since she just "started taking the phone to BM's", BM just gave in. She was told that dogs are not objects and that it does not work that way. She was also told that when she starts feeding and walking our dogs twice a day for a year, it will be an OPTION but we all know that won't happen.
Also, she was told on Friday to bring ALL of the things she needs for the week. She has been taking a duffel bag between the houses for her new clothes because she has only been wearing those. DH bought her at least 3 Nightmare Before Xmas t-shirts/ long sleeves online (her fave movie) and yes, she wears long sleeves and sweaters in the summer. We were at Target yesterday getting new dog toys and I asked her if she needed anything for our house- socks/ undies/ bra, etc. The answer was no. This morning, I hear her ask DH if they can go to BM's tomorrow to get 'all' of her undershirts. She has at least 4 here but just refuses to take initiative to do her laundry.
I text DH and ask what colors she needs because I'll just buy her some more so he doesn't have to go to BM's for something so trivial. It'll only be $10. He said she just needs black and white undershirts. I just find it annoying that SD is TOLD to bring everything then ASKED if she needed anything for our house and can't take 2 seconds to actually think about it and plan for herself. THIS is exactly why she can't have her own dog.

Good for you guys for saying
Good for you guys for saying no. I can't even imagine a pet going back and forth... One household making a decision for both is something that should be avoided... If you got a dog you know BM would pitch a fit and it would be with you full-time... So then it would be another one for you to care for.
Which you obviously love dogs. But that's why you have your own already!!! I cared for 16 puppies at once, 10 bottle feeding, and it was chaotic! And that was temporary! A dog is a serious commitment! Vet bills, walks, food, play time, etc! Maybe get your SD a stuffed animal to practice on? Something closer to her responsibility level.... lol
