Sometimes I just love my Grandma...
Sometimes I just love my grandma and her traditional values. She is a strong catholic and always reminds me that in her eyes and the church's eyes my hubby was never married before because he married a methodist (no offense if you are methodist, that is not my point) and the catholic church annolled his marriage to BM... my grandma just reminded me of this to cheer me up...and work her agenda the flip side to my grandma's pride in saying his marriage to BM didn't count is that I have to make mine count by getting it blessed in the church. We had our wedding by a JP at my grandma and grandpa's farm, there was a deacon, a nun and a priest there so isn't that enough to count for church's blessing. We couldn't aff ord a big church wedding, and after 5 years of being negaged with no date set my chicken shit hubby was ready to do it so I wasn't wating for the church. She still reminds me every chance she gets that I promised to get it blessed in the church, 5 years later I still haven't. I feel like a hypocrit making such a big deal out of it because we dont go to church. The funny thing is DH's grandma said teh smae thing before she passed away. Remebering this always brightens my day a "wee bit" as our Irish grandma's would say because when BM and the inlaws get me down there was an inlaw that gave me her blessing before she passed away and that inlaw was loved and adored sooo uch by DH's family that if I know she is smiling donw on our marriage from heaven I am happy. I also get a chuckle remebering her irish little accent whisper to me "I am so glad he found a nice catholic irish girl as beautiful as you, instead of that dreadful piece of trash I've had to listen to for the last several years." SO note to self when inlaws get you down remember the most important one blessed your marriage...hee hee
