Bahamas Bound!
BM is out!
Which means her $6500.00 bail was paid, $6k of which is back child support!! On one hand I am tickled, about time she started paying for her kids. On the other hand:
DAMMIT! Now she is out and likley going to start crap again!
DH and I had discussed days ago, IF we got the payment from her, we were taking the kids on a REAL vacation. They are too old for Disney and per DH "I am NOT going back to being a Disney Dad, ain't happening". So we decided on taking the kids on a cruise during the summer if certain criteria are met.
1) Thou shall have good grades.
2) Thou shall complete all your service hours.
3) Thou shall not have an attitude (we expect normal teenage attitudes, we are talking the old entitled attitudes)
4) Thou shall save money, mow neighbors lawns and earn money any way you can. What money you bring with you is for what you WANT on while on vacation, we will supply what you NEED.
Can you ladies think of anything that should be added to the list?

We are thinking the Bahama's. All we will have the money for is a short 3 or 4 day cruise and options seem to be Bahama's or Mexico. I would prefer not to have to deal with drug cartel wars so we chose the Bahamas.
The younger two would go for hiking, my two would go for hiking, oldest SS is a couch potato who can nearly sprain something getting out of bed: don't think the rain forrests are a good idea LOL. Maybe for mine and DH's couples cruise tho!
DH had the idea of handing the kids Monopoly money. $500.00 each. Attitudes, chores not done etc: will cost them $5.00 a pop. Bad grade on a report card (D) is a $100.00 charge

And so long as they have $10.00 left of the monopoly money by the time we leave, they get to go. That gives them "wiggle" room to be normal teenagers/ kids and make mistakes over the next 9 months, but also keep them in check of exactly how bad behavior add (or subtracts) up and can cause them to lose a prize if they aren't careful.

Who paid her bail??????? I just can't believe someone would waste their money like that. $6k is A LOT of money for someone who keeps squandering away her chances at getting her crap together. Just wow...

I like the idea of the goals being measurable and marbles being put in the jar. It's a visual that could keep them motivated all year and is a whole lot less subjective for when they do something bad. It shows that the good they've done can't be taken away, but that they won't get rewarded for bad.

Do a cruise. Better bang for your buck... But, Costa Rica is awesome and very affordable...If you do the Bahamas do not do the tour stuff with the cruise ship. Book it yourself online. Way cheaper. We have done the bahamas about 5 times on cruises and the last time we did the Segway tours and that was fun...
