whats cosidered extraordinary expenses in New York

I am a step mother and need to know if any other dad's out there are being forced to pay for braces when they don't have the money?

It depends on how/if something like that is included in the court order. If it is ordered for the dad to cover braces, he has to cover it. If he doesn't have the money, he needs to find it. If it isn't ordered, don't pay for it.

NY is the worst state when it comes to EVERYTHING! We can't wait to get the frack out of here!!! Unfortunately, DH is very reluctant to leave Skids (which is commendable as a father) but sucks for us!! Sad

Braces at 8? Is this the norm these days? Don't they still have teeth to loose? I had braces at 13. It makes more sense to me to wait a little longer, but I'm certainly no orthodontist. --M

Agree with Crayon. Only pay what is ordered. Keep receipts of everything you pay for beyond the CS. We do as we are going back to court and will probably have to pay. Lawyer says we need to keep receipts of everything.

i lived in texas for a few years and i thought it rocked! but no beaches in dallas and the lakes, well they're not beaches... and if they don't get this oil spill under control... i don't even want to think about it ~~ make me sad & ill...

I know that in my dh's paper work it says that mom and dad BOTH have to agree before any work is done. IF one or the other does it with out the others consent that one has to pay. So far bm has not asked dh to pay for ss10s dental but some co pays. But that isn't that much like 10 dollars every other week or something. But the situation I'm in is that neither bm nor dh have the money to go back to court. Bm doesn;t know that dh doesn't really have the money so whenever she gets a wild hair up her butt and thinks he should go beyond the call of duty so to speak he will tell her if you don;t think it is fair take me to court. That usually shuts her up. I mean dh pays CS, ins., half of copays, and half of percrips too. I think he is being very fair.
