I was not made to play lawyer

With SO out of work and all the financial issues SO has decided his only option is to get this divorce and custody done himself against BM finally having an actual lawyer. I helped him write a great parenting plan and a rough draft of his response to the refile for dissolution of marriage (not long story comes down to they dicked around and had to start over) BM was given the plan had a few questions she responded rationally. (We knew she had refiled properly but SO hadn't been served because she still can't get the address right ) he handled her questions just like I explained was best and kept going back to it's what's best for the kids when she'd get an attitude. His plan is to push an agreement on a plan before court which is way off in November or go to court ask for mandate of mediation and extension to try and get a lawyer and if she won't agree before court then he's going to go to the far end of the spectrum and ask for full custody and child support in the hopes he can then negotiate back to the proposed shared parenting plan he's offered. We have piles of documentation her criminal record and I know her lawyer well enough she'll be pissed at BM for the stunts and hopefully encourage the plan agreement shes a good lawyer and luckily believes in shared parenting (my parents were the first in our area to do shared and she was my dad's lawyer)It's but SO is really lost on how to do this himself and I only know si much any advise or good websites that can help?

Check your local county website...My friend did her divorce herself too. I went with her to pick up forms to be filed out, etc...the cost was minimal vs an attorney.
