It's a Miracle!
DH is running late getting home from work. I went ahead and prepared supper for skids and me.
I fixed plates for each kid, then called them down to eat. They sat down and ate. SD, who is usually the WORST about suddenly not liking a particular food, actually cleaned her plate.
I feel like I should be checking temps or something. This just does not happen.

Exactly! No audience willing
Exactly!
No audience willing to coddle her so she shut up and ate. But daddyyyy will probably be told how you told them they had to eat it or else! Or, he might get told you didn't even feed them.
Kids behave differently for
Kids behave differently for different people. They just taught you that they are willing to be reasonable. Believe them. Make sure your DH knows of this. Time for things to change of the better.
Yes! When DP is not around I
Yes! When DP is not around I have it easy! If he's there then it's a different story. He had to suddenly take care of his dying father this spring and due to schedules with me and BM I took the girls when she just couldn't. I had zero, zero!, problems. Had to break up a sister fight but that was it. DP was incredulous. That's because I have rules and the SDs know I will follow them. And I treat them well when they do good, not just for whatever.
They have boundaries with you
They have boundaries with you and none with their father.
If SO gives Chucky pineapple he will go almost comatose and scream his head off about the look of it. I give Chucky pineapple while SO is out "Hmmm Mon, I like the pineapple you give me" and then he tells SO my pineapple is nice.
Chucky knows who will tolerate what. He also knows who he can manipulate and how.
