Prom dress revisited...

Last-Wife's picture

... Princess loved the borrowed dress. She has decided she will think of a plan to be able to not hurt her mother's feelings. She said I was right to worry about all of the other expenses, and it WOULD be foolish to spend such a huge amount of money on the dress...

She's gonna try to talk her mom into getting her a nice piece of "forever" jewelry to go with the free dress... Something she will always have and be able to say "My mom gave me this."

Ah, it's great to know Princess has been paying attention all those years! Maybe my practicality did rub off on her!

Now, let's hope Loca Grande takes the news well...

(Who am I kidding?@!)

Without knowing the back story here, this sounds like good news, Tired-Stepmom.

I just had to say something though... since I'm so tired and weird-feeling, every time I see the title to your blog I read, "Porn dress".

Time for bed I think. To SLEEP.

Well, I saw pictures of the dress she and her mother had originally picked... It would have been a "porn dress," cut down to the belly button and laced up the back.

(She's somewhat borderline personality disorder, and she will be whoever the other person wants her to be when she is with them. Her BM wants her to be sexy, so that's who Princess is when they are together.)

"My dress" is Princess and pouffy. And fully covered... With a FULL skirt that no boy will be able to get near her! LOL

Tired Stepmom - CLAPPING!!! STANDING UP ON MY BED CLAPPING FOR YOU!!!

Another small step for Tired SM...and a giant leap made for Stepparent-kind!!! lol See?? Your efforts to try to help raise SD to be a good, ethical, responsible woman ARE starting to be successful!! It's so exciting when little things like this happen (so sad how something small like this makes your day, huh??).

Baby steps, baby steps...

SO happy for you Tired SM!! Congrats!!! BTW, can you please write a manual on how exactly you managed to be successful at this and send it to me, please?? I have a SD15 now that is VERY similar to yours. I cringe at the thought of what I'll be going through with her when it comes to Prom time, driving a car, etc... BF gives her no chores, no responsibility, she's failing 2 classes, etc...and since BM always cries "poverty" yet wants SD to have the best of everything, I can only imagine what I'm in for... lol

That is wonderful. I am so proud of your SD, not only for recognizing the responsible choice, but for coming up with a great plan to not hurt her mother. She sounds like she is turning into a very mature, wonderful young woman! Way to go Tired.

Thanks ladies... And believe me, Milomom, one day I will write a book about my experiences... I should get some money out of this ordeal I have been through... LOL

I guess my biggest thing that always kept me going was the thought that these skids needed a MOM; someone to show them what true love and support is all about. It's not always been easy, and a lot of it has been tough love. It was SO EASY when the kids were little. The breaking point for us seemed to be when the kids each hit 7th grade. Princess got there first, and it didn't help we had just moved to a new town... Then each of the boys. 7th grade seemes to be tough... And I know they hate chores, and the emphasis I put on a clean house and dedication to school, but there are moments when it seems I did make an impact...

I guess that makes it all worthwhile.

(I'll ignore the fact she was yelling at me this morning since she had no clean clothes for work. Her laundry day is Thursday. Not my fault she didn't wash her clothes. Not my fault she woke up 30 minutes before she had to leave the house... LOL)

Tired-Stepmom - Congratulations on a job well done. Smile You did get through! I hope you and DH can celebrate a little bit - privately!

Huge hugs and pats on the back to you. I really just want to hug your SD too! She "gets it!" You have given this kid the RIGHT MESSAGE.
