Yet another Holiday blog!

Christmas is approaching way to fast this year and I am freaking out (like usual). Every year I say I am going to plan, but don't because life gets in the way. This year I want to stick to a real budget and not go over board. My kids and SS are spoiled beyond belief! Between each of them having 4 sets of grandparents, 2 great grandparents, aunts, uncles, the other parents and us- Christmas gets out of control! My kids are also the only kids of this generation on my entire side of the family. Literally thousands of dollars are spent every year on the 3 of them.

My kids still believe, which makes it a little tricky/ touchy when it comes to having a ton of presents under the tree but I want to try something one of my girlfriends told me she wants to do. 4 presents each- Something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read.

I LOVE THIS!! I think I can do a budget of $200 a kid and they can have a great Christmas without us going broke #1, them having so much they just toss things aside #2 and them get a grip on reality #3.

Thoughts??

I like your girlfriends idea its creative! One of my girlfriends spends $500.00 per kid every year and she has 3 kids, that damn near nauseates me. Some of their friends feel bad when they hardly get anything themselves and my friend skips paying some of her bills to buy all these gifts. Sometimes less is more IMO.

I like that idea, too! I think that's a good approach to take with kid gifts for Christmas. Granted, for nieces and stuff, FDH and I do one or two gifts ($50 or under), but, for SD, that could work out nicely and might help prevent massive meltdown for FDH on wanting to please his little princess while simultaneously draining our bank account.

I am a huge cyber monday shopper! I buy almost everything that day and have it shipped right to work! LOL

I have heard of this before and I like the idea.

BS is my only child. I set a limit. For years it was $200 but I think I am going up this year to $300 since he is older.

My sister probably spends close to $1000 or more between her 2 girls. One is my BS's age and she is super competitive so she is always like I have this, I got this, guess what I got. So annoying! So sometimes I feel bad for my BS, but he is such a great kid he is happy with what he has and very rarely gets upset with her bragging. But I still feel bad sometimes for BS that I can't do MORE for him, when in reality he has MORE then enough.
