Hospitalization for the SS11
About 7 days ago, the SS11 had a psychotic break. If you have read my blogs in the past, you already know, my SS11 lives with DH and I full time. He is Autistic, ADHD and Bi-polar.
Well, we have been having a horrible time lately. His psychiatrist's solution was to throw even more medicine down his gullet.
But still on a recent Saturday, he had a full blown psychotic break. He bit a police officer, hit is father and kicked and screamed all the way to the ambulance. (Hi neighbors! Yes, my son is being carted away by the police. Sigh).
Well, he has been in a psychiatric hospital for about 11 days now. The peace in my house has been wonderful. And I must admit, I do miss the little twerp.
His Doctors at the hospital think the psychotic break was due to pharmacological interactions. They are backing off of the diagnosis of "severe psychosis: non-specified". They think that what the other doctor was seeing as psychosis is just an extreme manifestation of his Autisim. Because he is high functioning people, even his psychiatrist, tend to discount the Autism symptoms.
He is supposed to come back home Saturday. I am looking forward to seeing him.
Since he has been gone, his father and I have had a chance to work out a couple things. I am going to get Monday's to go out with the girls (Knit Night, Baby!). He get's Thursdays. And we are looking for a new doctor for SS11; for when he returns.
