O/T 109 kids tonight.

Hung outside with dad and did the T or T thing.  Mom is cold natured so was only out for about 15mins.  We pulled the plug at 20:15 when the temp hit 45*F and the pickup and van loads of non neighborhood candy raiders started showing up.  My general thought is if they are not hiking around doing actual T or T and are being shuttled in ..... my interest wanes quickly.

All of the kids were polite, well behaved, and calm.

Near universal "Thankyou"s.  Until the last dozen or so who were interlopers, not polite, and were raping hand fulls of candy instead of the two pieces we were allowing.  Every other kid or small group had parents with them.

We dropped the rest of the candy off with the neighbors who had already asked for about 25% of our supply because they underestimated on the demand.  We gave out about half of our supply directly to kids.

I hope everyone had a pleasant and safe Halloween.

We live in a rural area and never get T or Ters.  Chef went to one of our rentals to work tonight in what used to be a village.  Got a handful.  Here in western NY with awesomeDIL and DGD 2.5, we got ONE that was from another street.  It a snowed here today but that never used to stop anyone.   I think most do parties and trick or trunk now especially in NYS where it can be dangerous and there is crime but no punishment.

We had about 30 kids so i ended up eating too much leftover candy lol. All were pretty polite but after the first "handful grabber" i stopped letting them choose their own and just handed each kid a few pieces.

We had much fewer than last year and no littles! Very nice and polite, mostly middle school age, a couple high school, mostly from our neighborhood. I gave them all lots because I wanted it all gone. Mostly succeeded!

BUT we live on a hill out in the county with no sidewalks, there isn't even a shoulder on the road. On the other side of the road in front of our house is a drop off into the creek. None of the closest houses to us have young children, so no trick or treaters for us. We did buy a bag of candy just in case since this is our first year in the house, but not a single one for us. DH was hoping we would get trick or treaters, but also wanted to buy a house away from people and as few neighbors as possible ... so I don't know where he thought he could buy a house like that and have trick or treaters. Hahaha.

We had less than 30 kids, but I was happy to see a bunch of older kids - middle school and early high school. Loved it. We were letting them take 3 pieces each because we are at the end of town and all the houses on our street have a lot of front steps. We set the candy on the first landing of the steps so they didn't have to come all the way to the door. It's an old train town and not affluent, so I think most of the kids went to the top of the hill above town where a very affluent housing development was built in the last few years. The kids could get more candy with less effort up there. But we had fun in spite of the low turnout.

I wish we had trick or treaters... Our street is too busy. I enjoy Halloween. Where I lived growing up we had hundreds of kids. When we took skids we would go to a popular trick or treating neighborhood in town. Lots of people.

Kids do a lot of doubling dipping now with the trunk and treat and trick or treating on Halloween. Lucky kids haha.
