my stepdaughter hates me

Everything was great when her dad and I first got together. I had Josh shortly after things have gone down hill badly. She is hitting me and fights me on everything. Dad says she was alienated. If I have to hear that word one more time.... Her and I are at a point that I don't know how to get us out of. Right now I hate even having her here. I hate my feelings about her. I am glad to see I am not alone, that in itself makes a huge difference.

I don't know exactly what your situation is, but in my case when this happened it didn't stop until DH put his foot down and told my SS that I wasn't going anywhere and that he needed to respect me. Your DH needs to let your SD know what her place is in the family.

She's feeling alienated so she can misbehave? Here is the rule in my house "FEELINGS AND BEHAVIOR ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR BAD BEHAVIOR." I actually cringe when I hear someone say "oh, he must be tired." or "they're having a bad day". Fine, they're having a bad day. How about teach them how to COPE with their feelings instead of use them as an excuse to act inappropriately? Wingnut is always making up excuses for SD's behavior. I would like to slap her into oblivion when she starts that crap "oh, I have to cuddle her she's having a bad day.." Cuddle her my ass, she needs a swift kick in the butt straight to her room for some time out.
