I know the feeling. To me you have two options - either say something to her yourself, or ignore it, hoping he will.

I remember a conversation we had when SD was the same age and doing similar things. I will never forget how she smacked gum during our wedding as my maid of honor, and no one said one word to her. I chose to ignore it too, and it only got worse from there!

Kids are not born knowing all the subtleties of how to get along, and the benefits of it, so it is up to 'someone' to point it out to them. She was always very offended when I would 'make' DH correct her manners, for any truly outrageous behavior, for her own damn good and so people wouldn't hate to see her coming, like they do.

But anyway DH said, how SD acts is no reflection on you. I said, it is! But eventually I came around to his 'way' of thinking (copout really), and just introduce her as 'DH's daughter'. So everyone knows, this is not my doing.

It may sound mean, but teaching and learning manners and respect is free. We can all afford to do it! Wink Also now that she is older, her manners in public are improving, as she has to keep a job etc., so maybe this is something all children grow out of eventually.
