SS9 9mm gun casings school bag

stressed1's picture

I'm not even sure details are needed here. I searched SS9's book bag for missing grades and found shell casings for a 9mm handgun. We don't have a hand gun. He knew he wasn't allowed to have them and didn't care. He brought them to school for about a week until I found them and showed them to kids at school. I Googled to see what happened to other kids that brought shell casings to school and it was pretty much: school went on lockdown and all parents were notified, the child was expelled, and arrested. The police assume since there are bullets there is a gun. Meanwhile DH is thousands of miles away and the person responsible is me. DH hasn't even bothered to contact SS9 therapist. I am livid, and DH thinks I am overreacting. It is obvious we cannot control this child. I'm not going to jail, or risking my kids for SS. What do you guys think is an appropriate reaction to this?

Cops.

You have been left as the "responsible adult" by both BM and your DH. They have consistently put parenting roles on your shoulders. They don't want to do stuff, so you have to do it.

Cops and therapist. Two weeks ago, drove my BS-13 to the local cop-shop after a squirrelly pick-up. No discussion. Provided my son an opportunity to speak with local police officers. Foolish child.

What you are dealing with is more symbolically outwardly aggressive so I wouldn't waste much time.

Cop cops cops. Take him, the bag and casing to the police station NOW! Therapist later. That is a luxury event. The police need to be involved asap. Its on you, you are in charge of him at the moment.
