Just sick of it and I want to vent for a minute

FSD8 is making me insane. She is a princess of the highest order and I am about to flip my sh*t if I can't talk about this somewhere, to someone.

She makes messes, everywhere.

She leaves her stuff all over the house.

Every time she is asked to do her chores she conveniently gets a headache or sprains her ankle or just plain doesn't feel good.

Her room is a disaster and when she is told to clean it she picks up the phone and calls her grandmother, who drives an hour to clean it for her. When she finally does clean up her room, everything she does not feel like cleaning up ends up in a pile in the living room.

She insists on keeping her mother's cat here but NEVER cleans up after it. (I've written about this disgusting non-poop-covering creature before. It's still freaking here.)

She insists on being driven to friends' houses after school every day but then complains when the other six people who live here eat the snack food. (If you are not here, the world does not screech to a halt.)

When she is told not to do something (like make messes or throw tantrums) she calls her mother or her grandmother and tells them what a horrible person I am. She does this in the middle of the night if she has been told to shut up and go to bed for the thousanth time.

And on top of all of this...everyone is constantly telling us how adorable and sweet she is. They can have her.

In the evening take her phone from her or 'lose' it or unplug the phone from the wall and lock it in the trunk of the car.

Clean up for her .... with a big box wihich also gets locked in the trunk of your car.

Tell her to either take care of her cat or it goes back to her mothers place or the pound.

Is your DH/SO on the same page as you? Maybe not if she is allowed to behave like this. I would start with him and ask him why his mother is allowed to come over at her beck and call. And would he like your father to appear at your request whenever you feel like not doing something. It starts as a territorial thing and before too long it becomes a control issue.

Just yuck. That whole situation sucks. My DD9 is actually quite similar; she's hard-headed, lazy, and sassy. She's also the kind of kid that only responds to pain. You can ground her for life from anything and she won't care. I don't believe in corporal punishment, so we use PT. Push-ups, sit-ups, flutter kicks, running stairs. . . oh yeah, bring on the pain. She was down for 35 min. just a few nights ago; we felt it was a fitting punishment for a 35 min. tantrum. She's been an angel since then.

Anyway, I often "forget" to charge DD's phone, and on occasion, I've been known to even "loose" the charger.

DD is strangely always hungry when there's a chore to be done . . . suuuuuuuure. Maybe keep some altoids in an asprin bottle for her "aches?"

My DD's pile ends up under her bed; I just make her do it again until it's done. Since we alternate on who picks up the LR, it woulnd't do her much good to put it there. Even when it's me or FDH picking up the LR, we make piles of stuff that do not go in the LR, and each person has to put away their own pile.

Ah, the joys of cat ownership. Move the box into her room; she can clean it up or she can suffer the (smelly) consequences. By the way, my cats are escape artists (hint hint).

With the cost of gas prices, I can't afford to drive anywhere that is not a necessity. Is this type of driving really in your budget? I'm sure she could make friends within walking or bike riding distance; send her off with a twinky.

I'm really starting to get a complex about myself. Like I'm really the devil or something. You guys are all saints. Bio or step, I wouldn't put up with half the crap you guys do. No wonder I read so much about Xanax, therapy, and disengaging (??? this might be the wrong word) on this site; there's no way in the world I could put up with all that. I don't think there's anyway in the world *any* sane person could - well, at least not if they planned on keeping their sanity. Props to all you guys.
